This page is a combination of multiple frustrations, both in the real and virtual lives. At the same time, I was inspired by a monologue in "Waiting for Godot", in which a character goes off the deep end about the existence of a god while referring to "scientific researches". Initially, the page was supposed to be a mix between a pseudo-scientific clinical page and the commentary of a "supervisor", but all of that turned into what is now "🪑".

As a bonus fun fact, I still consider that the page for P22 is only a partial view of what is actually happening here. I plan on writing another page which gives an outside perspective of P22.

The Goat Simulator of the Backrooms, or something.

This is actually a slight rework of a initial submission for the writing blitz of 2024. It didn't do well for various reasons, one of them being that I used the portrait of a real life human for the character of Maurice. Too far, I suppose.

Is it a bit of a shitpost? Maybe, although there are actual themes. Did I write a page in the clinical tone despite being vocal about disliking it in the Backrooms? Yes. I wanted to see if I could make a page like that work.

Massive thanks to scutoid studios for taking the time to translate my very first page ever! It was initially posted in early 2022.

You can really feel the influence of 2021 Tech Support in this one. I was quite new to the inner workings of the community, meaning I didn't dare to stray too far away from the commonly accepted format. Yet, I did already want to bring my own twist to it, while also trying to create a setting that could resonate with people from Belgium and Northern France. This is where "Strip-Tease" comes in.

Okay, not a literal Strip-Tease, it's a documentary series known for its raw portrayal of people from various paths of life, some normal and others… much less so. There's very little if any input from the directors, leaving the stage entirely to those who are the subject of those documentaries, for better or worse. This hugely inspired me in the making of 44-FR, allowing the main character (the unnamed woman) speak for herself. Her retelling is most probably fragmented, but it is honest.

In terms of themes, misplaced and false nostalgia is out there. The village is a lost memory of a life snatched away by the horrors of war, yet a group dances on its grave, falsely celebrating what is seen as land perfect to reestablish a lost glorious past. The nationalistic undertones of the directorate are very much intentional.
