Description

Object PT-2, known as "Mystic Coffee", takes the form of different caffeinated beverages, usually found in teacups and plastic cups. Each drink contains a unique ability, and many are still unknown. Because of this, it's recommended that those who drink the liquids be extremely careful with unknown/unexperimented types by the I.P.D.L.B. The drinks can be found randomly in Backrooms levels, usually on top of desks, and can also be generated by the Coffee Machine on Level PT-17. The drinks can’t be changed from one recipient to another, such as being put in bottles, as they lose their anomalous abilities.

So far, there are only six variants that have their abilities explained, and another one is being tested as of the date of this article’s creation.

Abilities List

Below is the abilities list of the six discovered variants so far, along with the information on the unknown one. In all variations, the ability is only activated after the complete consumption of the liquid.

Common Coffee

Being the most common variant found/produced, Common Coffee can teleport anyone who drinks it to a random part of the level. Usually, this ability is useful if the wanderer is being hunted down by entities; however, the opposite can also happen, causing the wanderer to be teleported to a part of the level with a high quantity of entities. As such, it’s recommended that wanderers utilize this variation only on safe levels or levels with a low entity population.

Espresso

It’s the second most common variant found/produced, but also the most dangerous. Espresso can increase the adrenaline levels in one’s body, making the wanderer experience what is known as an “adrenaline rush.” The danger of Espresso, however, is its excessive consumption. Only one teacup of Expresso increases the adrenaline level in the body by 75%. Two complete tea cups, however, can increase the adrenaline level up to 125%. Elevated consumption of Expresso can cause the wanderer adrenal insufficiency, which can cause fatigue, dizziness, and low blood pressure. In cases of extreme consumption, the wanderer may have a heart attack, stroke, and possibly death. Because of these factors, it’s recommended to only drink small amounts of Espresso.

Cappuccino

It’s the rarest variant found/produced and contains the ability to increase or decrease the perception of one of the 5 senses in those who drink it. The severity and duration of the effect are completely random and can range from mild blindness to complete deafness, lasting for a few seconds up to several hours. However, unlike other drinks, Cappuccinos have a unique characteristic, which indicates which of the 5 senses will be affected.

Symbol Sense
Heart Smell
Star Touch
Leaf Vision
Dove Hearing
Geometric Symbols Taste

Because of its randomness, it’s recommended to exercise extreme caution with this variation, as it’s unknown how to discover the duration of the effect, its intensity, and if the sense will improve or worsen.

Latte

The third most common variant, and with one of the most useful abilities found/produced is the Latte. Lattes are topped with a layer of foam, often decorated with leaf-shaped latte art. This variation can increase the stamina of the wanderer, increasing their heartbeat and speed. As useful as it may be, excessive consumption can increase the heartbeat exponentially, causing various cardiac problems, muscle pain, fatigue, extreme tiredness, and difficulty breathing.

Iced Latte

The second rarest variant found/produced and with one of the simplest abilities. All drinks of this type have a calming effect. When consumed, the drink will lower the heartbeat and relax the muscles of the drinker over time, helping if the wanderer is experiencing extreme anxiety, paranoia, panic, etc. or needs to rest. However, like all other types, excessive consumption may make the heart stop beating or weaken the muscles, thus preventing them from contracting and making them unable to be “activated” once again.

Coffee with Milk

Being the last variant with its abilities known and the third rarest, its ability is the safest of all. The ability of this variation is healing, mainly of minor injuries, such as cuts, scratches, and bleeding. It’s unknown how the drink can heal the wanderer; however, it’s speculated the healing ability comes from the milk mixed with the coffee. Out of all variations of the object, this is the only one that has no known drawbacks, being one of the few variants that are 100% safe for ingestion.

Americano

The abilities of this variant of coffee are still unknown, as is its rarity. It was produced only once. For unknown reasons, any photos attempted to be taken of this type are not clear, making photo attempts nearly impossible. It’s described as being hotter than the others, being able to reach up to 50 °C (122 °F). More information about this variation is being tested, as the first and only tea cup containing the drink ended up breaking due to the elevated levels of temperature it presents.
