What is a Portable Digital Computer?
Portable Digital Computer
Object 93, referred to as P.D.C., is a compact, laptop-like device developed by Backrooms Remodelling CO for both public and private usage. Its design is straightforward, and its lightweight makes it easy to carry from one location to another. It was specifically made so that its keyboard and features were uncomplicated, thus resembling standard computers.1 The casing of the device is constructed from a exceptionally durable metal of unknown origin. Its insufficient RAM is powered by the homeword but by connecting to Wi-Fi, you will access a cloud with limitless capacity. The battery it comes with doesn't last long, so you must remember to charge it after each use. Remember to be careful with it!
It is a device with open source, and we suggest that you customise it according to your needs, as it is highly adaptable. In addition to its more practical features, it can also serve as a camera and a video recorder.
How to prepare your P.D.C.?
1. Turn on the P.D.C. For now, you will only see an empty desktop in front of you with nothing except the help bar.
2. Search for "backchrom" and press the Enter key. You should then see a window saying, “Do you want to download the program backchrom.txt?” Click yes and wait until it finishes downloading.
3. Congratulations, you have now gained access to the Internet! An essential thing to know is that no program is built into the P.D.C. by default; you must download everything manually, from the General Public Database to the trash bin. Fortunately, other users have created resource packs that contain all the necessary programs. The most popular of them is Backrooms OS which I sincerely recommend to everyone.
4. All programmes are there, already prepared; only the desktop is still just a blue screen with nothing. Type “source code” in the help bar; it will take you to the note with the P.D.C. source code. You can edit it at will without a problem, but without skills, it can lead to the destruction of the device. What interests us here is the section with the label “Desktop”. Below it, there are [class_banner=bluescreen] and [[#redirectors=none]]. In the first one, replacing the text after the "=" sign with any image address will change the desktop background to the selected one. In the second, you should also replace “none” after the "=" sign with the address of the programs and files you have chosen. They will then start to display from top to bottom on the desktop. (All this can be simplified by using programs created by other users for this purpose.)
5. Congratulations! You have prepared your P.D.C.; from now on, everything will be easy. The Internet contains so much information that you no longer need us.
Additionally
- It is recommended to learn the C++ programming language, on which the computer is based. Thanks to this, you will be able to program your P.D.C. from scratch and as you like.
- Never, under any circumstances, attempt to modify your device excessively without the help of an expert!2
Brief History
First presentation of the P.D.C.!
Prior to the creation of the P.D.C., most wanderers operated desktop computers found on different levels, like Object 6. Some took them to newly established bases or outposts, where they used these devices for all sorts of activities. The problem always arose when someone had to go on an expedition and needed some of the things saved on the computers. People had to use separate objects or devices for everything. The revolution came in 1971 when, out of the aforementioned needs, the Backrooms Remodelling Company created the Backrooms' first portable digital computer. They shared it with people for this purpose, and in 1972 the first presentation of the device took place before a wider audience in the Leaders settlement. Everyone was amazed by it; fortunately, the Backrooms Remodelling Company had one for everyone who wanted it. The P.D.C. never replaced notebooks, newspapers, cameras or walkie-talkies, but it found more social applications. It connected people better across multiple levels. Internet communities began to form, as well as special programmes for all sorts of activities created by users.
The first P.D.C.s could only display black and white images, but that was sufficient. The object was still in the early stages of development from 1971 to 1983; its memory was limited, and it was necessary to frequently copy data to special handmade pendrives called "memory folders". They were always strictly protected by their owners.
The internet web!
The first revolution came with the incorporation of a module into new devices in 1979 that allowed for displaying colour images. A colour image is displayed on the screen by mixing together three basic colours: red, green, and blue (RGB). Each pixel on the screen consists of these three colours, and their intensity determines the final colour of the displayed pixel. It was a revolution that came too late because every computer in the Backrooms had aquired built-in colour. More importantly, it contributed to the development of internet art and websites, along with programmes. The device became unrecognisable.
In 1982, Backrooms Robotics, which typically dealt with technology, was amazed that a device created by a group that normally did not focus on electronics was producing an extraordinary amount of them in a short time. They took a few P.D.C.s and started to disassemble them in order to learn their structure. They were quite surprised when it turned out that, apart from a screen and a charging port, they had nothing inside that their human minds could not understand. Funny! They wanted to find their place in the portable computer market, so they began creating their own, more professional versions for other groups with greater capabilities. However, for many reasons, such as the fact that they were not without a cost and rarely reached simple travellers made them less popular.
In 1984, the P.D.C.s were utilised by participants of the General Public Database during explorations to document articles on recently found levels, entities, objects, and phenomena. This year also marked the conclusion of the computer's development phase, which has seen little change until now. In the ensuing years, the advent of computer games accompanied the arrival of new travellers. As early as 1995, the game Doom was set up on the P.D.C.s.
In 2017, an effort to enhance the device's memory was successful,3 but it was retracted due to manufacturing problems. There was also a transdimensional failure of the latest versions of the device. This was also caused by a global system failure that mainly attacked them. It was substituted with a newer edition featuring a significantly stronger casing. From that point, it became much harder to damage!
Reviews

Hello,
Since getting my own P.D.C., my life has become easier than ever! I love travelling, photography and writing, and this device helps with all of these activities! I love how every time you turn it on, it greets me with kind words.
The only thing I would point out is the fact that sometimes it makes some weird noises. Otherworldly, in a way. I would love to know how to fix that.

The computer is efficient and can store a lot of files. Programming on it is one of my favourite things to do. I only regret that I am not able to disassemble and modify it!
I love the starting screen "Toodle-Yu" – it's cute!

Performance is perfect and worth it, but I just don't like how I leave visible fingerprints all over the outer part of the laptop due to the material it is built with. The battery drains a little too quickly for my liking. I also noticed that it emits blue light in dark places from its power outlet. Is this an error?
Edit:
Blue mist started to emit from it. I need help.

The device is very cool and useful, but I have noticed some minor technical glitches. I can't turn it off or change the desktop from blue to custom. I would like to know how to fix it.
Where can I find them?
P.D.C.s are distributed by Backrooms Remodelling Company members at special locations on Level 11. Each individual can only receive one at a time, although if they lose it they cannot request another.
