I found a letter while sorting out my backpack.

I picked up the tattered envelope and looked at it carefully. The wine-colored thread tied on the envelope made it look delicate and elegant.

The slightly yellowed paper told me the age of the letter. It must have been in my backpack for many years.

I turned the envelope over. My mother's name was written on the bottom right corner.

It was indeed my mother's handwriting, but I seemed never to have seen this letter before.

An instance of Object 55.

Object 55 looks like a folded white paper envelope. It is about fifteen centimeters long and nine centimeters wide. It is usually tied with wine-colored thread and has a bow at the opening of the envelope. These features are currently the only way to identify an instance of Object 55, though it is not always an effective means of doing so.

The name of a relative of whoever finds the object will be written on the bottom right corner of the envelope. This is usually the name of a beloved relative who has died.

Special Properties

When Object 55 is opened, a bright white light will be emitted, and it can cause temporary1 blindness to the user. During this period, all users reported a voice similar to one of their relatives (written on Object 55) speaking to them. This is usually considered an illusion, but wanderers who experience this process currently believe it to be genuine. When the user's vision returns to normal, they will find that they have been transported to a random habitable level2. However, this only applies to the finder of the instance of Object 55. If someone else uses it, they will immediately become unconscious.

Research has shown that wanderers who have used Object 55 have experienced significant improvements in their mental state and have shown more kind and uplifting behavior, both of which seem to be permanent. A wanderer once said that he felt 'an unprecedented sense of relaxation' after using it. Several wanderers with diagnosed depression or other mood disorders have reported lessened symptoms after using it.

It is worth noting that Object 55 is a single-use object, and finding another after using is currently considered impossible. It is advised to use this object with caution.

Acquisition Methods

When wanderers have undergone a significant setback and felt extremely distressed, they may find Object 55 in their pocket or bag.
