This is a very, very old draft I made in 2022 after Sariastuff critiqued the original version of Object 29 (back then it was 29, the slot wasn't taken yet). It motivated me to actually create a page with more logic and knowledge rather than a simple "this object detects entities." Credits to Fredrich again for helping me rationalize this page.
In simple terms, Frvyo Jades (Object 101) are entity-detecting and danger-limiting natural devices located within caves in the Backrooms, useful when exploring the unknowns within them.
Description:
A Frvyo ring variant; manufactured with a golden alloy by the Eternal Repository.
A Frvyo ring variant; manufactured with a steel alloy by the Eternal Repository.
A Frvyo jade extracted from a Repository resource mine, weighing 4.5 kg (9.9 lbs).
A Frvyo jade extracted from a Repository resource mine, weighing 4.2 kg (9.2 lbs).
Upon its discovery on June 2016, Object 101 appeared to be an ordinary nephrite jade. Interest in Object 101 peaked when the Eternal Repository observed it emitting a faint light during a mining operation in an undisclosed resource mine. The initial study on the object was led by Junior Scientist Ibrahim Frvyo, who is the namesake of Object 101.
Frvyo jades are primarily used for detecting entities (excluding humans) within a finite area1 and determining their danger levels. This suggests that Frvyo jades can adapt to spontaneous scenarios, although, this adaptation can vary depending on specific situations, such as being in a group or in a secure environment. Frvyo jades are, in their base state, moss-colored jades most often located within cave systems with an average temperature of 8°C–14°C (46.4°F–57.2°F). Object 101 is generally dense and tough, which scales 6.1–6.6 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, and can be mined with ease using sturdy metal pickaxes, hammers, chisels, shovels, and other mining tools.
Object 101 contains a substance that is confirmed to produce its anomalous effect (i.e., "Frvyo reflection"). This substance, Frvyo, is yet to be extensively analyzed due to the lack of appropriate equipment necessary for such evaluation. Additionally, it is still unclear if the substance is an element or a compound.2
Frvyo is notoriously hard to isolate from the nephrite jade and highly reactive to almost anything but the gem it is contained within. Once in contact with any substance other than the nephrite jade, it would immediately form a compound with that substance. Named "Frvyo gas," this compound is highly toxic, even in small doses.3
Thus, in summary, we will regard Frvyo as an anomalous compound that can only act as an element within its composite foundation: nephrite jade.
Frvyo jades are also used as customary accessories or jewelry.4 Accessories made from Object 101 materials are most commonly known in terms such as Frvyo rings, necklaces, brooches, earrings, pendants, bracelets, etc.
Properties:
The presence and danger level of an entity are detected through the phenomenon of Frvyo reflection, wherein the Frvyo within the jade disperses invisible particles that act as a sonar and react with the appropriate illumination intensity when it detects an entity within its radius. This strangely excludes humans but not entities that possess human biology or composition (e.g., facelings, skin-stealers).5
Frvyo jades exhibit their effects when an entity is within the reflection area of Frvyo. Once an entity is nearby, the jade will illuminate using Frvyo as its energy source. This illumination will shine varying hues of green that are determined by the entity's danger or threat level. Known illumination intensities are listed below in descending order
- Brighter Green - High Danger/Extremely Hostile
- The illumination is blinding to the eyes. The threat is to be avoided at all costs.
- Bright Green - Moderately High Danger/Hostile
- The illumination is manageable for the eyes, but prolonged exposure is detrimental. The threat is to be avoided.
- Medium Green - Moderate Danger/Minimally Hostile
- The illumination is manageable for the eyes, and prolonged exposure is non-detrimental. The threat is to be preferably avoided.
- Dark Green - Moderately Low Danger/Unsafe
- The illumination is safe for the eyes. The threat is unsafe but can be approached.
- Darker Green - Low Danger/Safe
- The illumination is barely noticeable to the eyes. The threat is safe and can be approached.
Theories:
It is believed that Frvyo can only detect and react to the native entities or forces that originate from the Backrooms, as it is a compound that currently only exists here; this could be the reason why Frvyo is unable to detect humans or creatures of Frontrooms origin. Although there are entities that take on the guise of humans, they do not originate from Earth, or the Frontrooms, directly.
Though this point could be likened to humans born within the Backrooms, it has been confirmed and tested6 that these humans do not display any danger level in the illumination chart. The same fact goes towards creatures that no-clipped from the Frontrooms. It is apparent that undetectability could be gentically inherited by offspring, as long as they descend from people who originate from outside of the Backrooms. Though this may suggest the possibility for entities who possess human biology or composition to go undetected by the effects of Frvyo, any Backrooms origin overrules such.
Indeed, possessing human body parts may minimally skew the exact danger level of the entity, but Frvyo will always identify and recognize the innate nativeness of the entity possessing human composition, and as a result, they are able to be detected through Frvyo reflection.
Conclusion:
These theories sparked a massive debate regarding entities that exhibit human identity, behavior, and characteristics. Considerations regarding the existence of entities who identify as humans were questioned due to the influence of Frvyo jades. But most researchers defended Frvyo jades, saying that they are simply devices for detecting foreign from non-foreign and not about distinguishing humans from entities.
Although there is no definite explanation as to why humans or creatures of Frontrooms origin are the only exception to Frvyo reflection, it is widely accepted that it is better to simply look forward and use Frvyo jades for their benefits rather than for their connotations.
Groups of interest, such as Backrooms Robotics and The B.N.T.G., have been collaborating with the Eternal Repository in the manufacturing and distribution of Frvyo jade accessories and equipment. It is due to these efforts spearheaded by the cooperation of these groups that it quickly became ordinary for common people to wear Object 101, whose application has been utilized in several explorations that further expansion within the Backrooms.
Reliability:
In isolated environments, like forests or caves, where the entity population is on the lower end, Frvyo jades are one's lifesaver. But in high-entity population environments, such as metropolitan settings and uncontained levels, these objects are confusing and would be in constant change in the presence of multiple entities. Thus, it is preferable that explorers do not rely too much on the object, as it is also unstable and dynamic depending on specific circumstances.
