Description

Level 15-FR is an empty cube-shaped room approximately 19 x 19 x 19 meters in dimension, with walls made of gray industrial concrete. The Level is entirely empty2 and plunged in darkness, rendering visibility impossible without a light source.

The Level features entrances that are seemingly stable over time, though these are not "open", but rather require noclipping through specific areas to enter the Trap. Three areas have been discovered and sealed: one in the floor of Level 11, one in a wall of Level 103, and another in an unused room of Level 4-FR where the first entry was accidentally found.3 The passage zones allow objects, liquids, and living beings to pass through, but block gases, light, and vibrations for unknown reasons. Consequently, the Level's atmosphere is isolated, humid, foul-smelling, and possibly pathogenic due to microbial populations.

At the bottom of the pit lay 15 human corpses in an advanced state of decomposition,4 with decay varying by their placement in two main piles. The humidity and microbial concentration likely stem from these corpses. Most deaths resulted from a fatal fall, confirmed by powerful lights revealing violently twisted bodies, broken bones, and dried, moldy blood splatters indicating brutal impact. However, three bodies differ. They show makeshift splints, with two in one corner and the third at the opposite. It is theorized that three Wanderers fell into the trap in quick succession, their falls cushioned by previous bodies, enabling brief survival despite severe injuries. Without food or water, they likely succumbed to dehydration or their wounds soon after.

Given that the passage zones are stable, it is possible to explore the Level easily by lowering equipment and personnel using a rope connected to a pulley. The arrangement of the piles of bodies (currently numbering two piles) indicates the position of the two other known passages. With proper preparation and equipment, an explorer was able to move along the ceiling using pre-placed climbing stakes to reach the first passage leading to Level 11. This passage opened into a section of floor in a little-used hallway of a building housing a division of the MEG.

After making contact with the locals, the explorer Lucy Chabar reported the position of the passage zone and the characteristics of the Level.5 This process was repeated for the passage to Level 103. Attempts by locals to identify the corpses failed due to their advanced state of decomposition. However, the Raiders of Level 103 explained that 9 people had disappeared from the Level without any apparent entity involvement. The pile beneath the passage zone in Level 103 contains 6 bodies, accounting for part of the disappearances.

It was later decided to seal these zones using metal plates inscribed with warning messages to prevent further accidental falls. The MEG division in Level 11 now monitors the Level daily to track the number of bodies and identify any newly trapped wanderers or potential new entrances to other Backrooms Levels.

Theory

The apparent stability of the passage zones has greatly intrigued groups from the affected Levels, prompting them to begin studying the properties of noclipping. While measurements have been recorded, no definitive information about the nature of these zones has been obtained, and only theories attempt to explain the phenomenon. The currently favored theory is the Model 38, or four-dimensional superposition.
In the case of the passage zones in this Level, they are thought to act similarly to surface tension on water. Gases and low-density materials, as well as vibrations, light, and heat, cannot penetrate it and remain isolated on either side of the "film." However, denser and more compact objects can break through, after which the film would reseal immediately. Nevertheless, explanations regarding its actual functioning and origin remain purely speculative at this time.

Incident Reports

Incident #1
Discovery of the Level: The Level was discovered accidentally when a member of the MEG in Level 4-FR noclipped through a very narrow section of a wall in an unused meeting room, witnessed by two of their colleagues. One of them was able to glimpse the Level by inserting their head and a flashlight-holding hand through the wall. They saw the staff member's body below, along with the rest of the corpses.

Incident #2
“In order to isolate the passage zone at Level 103, an aluminum plate was to be installed against the wall to block the zone. However, its dimensions were smaller than the passage, leading to the fall of one of the two agents handling the installation. While attempting to press the plate against the wall for securing, the agent noclipped through the wall, taking the plate with them. They did not survive the fall. A new body was added to the registry of corpses in Level 15-FR.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • On the sixth floor of the third MEG encampment at Level 11, on the ground level of the second hallway to the right from the main elevator. A warning sign is present at the hallway entrance, and an aluminum plate blocks the passage zone.
  • On the -3 deck of the aircraft carrier in Level 103, within a wall segment in an unused storage room. A warning sign is placed on the door leading to the room, and an aluminum plate blocks the passage zone.
  • In the unused North Wing of the building in Level 4-FR, within a wall segment, an aluminum plate blocks the passage zone.

Exits

  • To the southwest6 of the passage from Level 11, a crude marking on the ceiling indicates the location of the exit to Level 4-FR.
  • To the west-southwest of the passage from Level 11 to Level 103, a crude marking indicates the approximate position of the passage.
