All the latest Backrooms news of the past two months!
Hello beings from TS. It is I, pnn wepm, back with your once per two month site news. This time, I'm joined by
vange,
xizhenfrog,
Endrew1,
LiminalDoctor, and
VivamusLudio so we can all feed you knowledge. 📰
So without further ado, let's begin!
Notice on AI
We've had an influx of AI usage, which led to us reviewing many pages of members of our community and being on edge. This increase is furthering the distrust others have, and we want to promote a community that learns to write instead of relying on these resources. Please do not use any forms of artificial intelligence for your writing, it does more harm for you than it does any form of good.
Rewrite Contest 2026
And that's a wrap on Rewritecon!
Despite being one of our most highly anticipated contests, with over 55 individuals signing up, it proved to be a tougher challenge than expected. Many of us in the community (myself included) sometimes lament that certain pages are in dire need of a rewrite or wish that their concept could be fully fleshed out and up to modern standards. However, this can be a daunting and tricky task—yet not impossible. The con brought us 19 successful rewrites in 2 months, which is no small feat!
Here are the highlights:
Winners:
Achievement bonus:
AndromedaObserver incorporated the most achievements within their page Entity 456: Diplomat, You've Been Here Before, Hidden Potential, Undefined, and Roleplayer (see achievement list here)
Thanks to everyone who participated, wrote, voted, and commented! We hope this was fun and also inspiring, to show that old concepts can indeed be refreshed in many new creative ways. If you're interested in trying your hand at it, the rewrite application form is always open.
Pride Month
We are a kingdom of queer! 🏳🌈
Hello, it's vange coming to give you a rundown of how Pride Month went over here at the Backrooms wiki! Both me and
LiminalDoctor came up with an event to allow others to express what pride means to them.
For the most part, this went well. Aside from a few hiccups dealing with a whole international branch having to have their ties severed with us and many other bans related to queerphobia, it was a great success. Unfortunately, every time June rolls around, people feel the need to spread hate. We hope that we as staff were able to protect and properly act on this.
We had many emotional and personal entries added to the event, which made the staff team proud and pleasantly surprised others could be so vulnerable and candid writing for us, even if it's just a seasonal event. We also made some server changes, like the server name to celebrate how many of our authors and members identify with the queer label!
Never forget, we are a space for all and we will never let the way you choose to identify stop you from interacting and expressing yourself. We love you as you are, and that's enough. 🫶🏳️🌈
Mass Trimming Is Dead
After a year and around 7-8 months, the mass trimming project has been consistently nuking every ancient 2020/2021/2022 page with a weak concept. But at the end of June, the mass trimming project finally came to a close! 🎉
Please give a massive thank you to the GLMP for spending so much time clearing out the bad outdated fluff from the site. This wouldn't have been possible without them!
New SD Class Component
There's been a brand new system of SD class components introduced! Feel free to check it out and use them if you so choose. We've also kept the old one up for fun, but we ask that you use the inclusion component:level-class with component:old-level-class if you want to use it in your page. Bear in mind that we also have replaced the logo for the old SD class to comply with CC laws.
There may be a few minor issues in Wikidot loading the SD component. Simply press the "edit" button and then immediately save to fix the issue. Doing this really helps lighten the load for staff. Please do not edit pages that are not your own; this is considered vandalism.
If you still notice any issues with the SD class even after, please report it to our tech team, VivamusLudio and
Abdallah Amr. Thank you for your patience!
Tech Reform Policy
For over a year, the site's tech team has been working on the release of the Technical Content Policy, which we finally published in June. This policy includes the guidelines, restrictions, and protocols that apply to the technical content on all pages of the site, whether they are exclusively technical or not.
Please be aware that, from now on, all new articles posted on the site must comply with this policy. If you find an older article that violates any of the guidelines, feel free to report it to the staff team so that we can handle it.
We also want to mention that we're currently working on some modifications to certain parts of the policy based on the feedback we've received from the community, and these changes will be implemented shortly.

New Pages
From the past two months, we have gotten a total of 50 new articles, although 6 of them are miscellaneous pages, leaving 45 that were opened for feature voting.
Of course, only four from each month could be selected as the best of that month, so let's take a look at them.
Page Features
PUTRID is an addition to the anamnêsis series, a prequel to Byte, and was written once again by vange. This work aims to represent someone's own self-doubt, taking the form of an omnipresent internal voice.
Cadriel is yet another anamnêsis addition.3 This time, it is a page that was collaboratively written by doctrinator and
pubie, exploring the person of interest known as Lou Filippe Khoi.
Have you ever went camping? If so, did you ever experience the dreaded time of night at a campground? And if you did experience it firsthand, did it feel ominous? Like the darkness outside was hiding something? This feeling is what Level 118 - "The Darkest Campground", rewritten by Endrew1, is attempting to explore.
Level 155 - "Quartz Composition", written by bird_stalwart055, is, as the name suggests, a level composed out of quartz. Having been found by the B.N.T.G., they began to devise a way to harvest the quartz for use in other places, but not everything goes according to plan.
