Rewrite Contest 2026

In many cultures, spring symbolizes rebirth, renewal, resurrection, and growth, so why not rebirth and renew some old pages that have been sitting under the open for rewrite category for years? We're also doing things a little differently with an achievement system to reward rewrites that follow certain conditions! Best of luck to all our authors out there! April Fools

It was another stressful April here at the office! A23 broke down the office doors and Pane Kixel’s himself said he’d feed us to the Bactaria Monster if we don’t pay him for the rights to his IP. Thankfully, thanks to some quick thinking from DivineAtlas, with the help of Abdallah Amr, we got a subscription service up and running to generate revenue while the rest of us drew straws in the breakroom to determine whose kidney we were selling on the black web!

Please give a thank you to Praetor3005 when he comes back from his dialysis appointment for selling his kidneys, and thank you, the reader for paying to access content you thought was protected under Creative Commons licensing!

New Home Page

You might have noticed a new look if you logged onto the site recently! Well, please thank scutoid studios, Abdallah Amr, and ReyDay for the hours they poured into redesigning our homepage! We couldn’t have done this without them, thanks for all your hard word guys!

(Also this is technically May news but shhh we're sneaking it in regardless)

Subclusters

April saw the introduction of Subclusters! Not quite canons, but moreso groups of levels that share similar lore, entities, traits and more! Like a canon, a Subcluster must have 3 or more pages to be added onto the hub! We hope this will improve your reading and writing experience!

Currently, we are in need of new staff, specifically people who will:

Be on the Tech team and help with themes, CSS, and other techie things.
Can help act as record keeper, posting important announcements to Oversight.
Pick art features and contact artists, then put them on the front page.
Help rewrite guides and FAQs to prepare for the influx of newbies that may come because of the Backrooms movie.

Page Features

That's right, it's none other than Level 0, the concept that started it all. It recently received a rewrite by three fantastic authors, Robert Goerman, DivineAtlas, and DrAkimoto. Check it out while you can.

For the very first Alternative Page since said category was introduced a year ago, we have CamaradeAlbabar's take on Level 94, creating a piece with a wild format screw. If you enjoy surrealism, this is for you.

In Catwalk, vange puts the reader in the shoes of someone who's trans, crafting a thoughtful piece that expresses the feelings and struggles of living as a trans person.

Would you look at that? We got the Second Homebound Chapter before GTA VI. Jokes aside, this second installment to the Homeward Bound series, written by DivineAtlas, takes place in the Desolation Canon, and is about a man searching for his wife. If you give it a read, check out Chapter 1 first otherwise this will make no sense.
