All the latest Backrooms news of the month!
Happy Pride Month! The month before we started cruising down Rainbow Road wasn’t exactly packed with major updates… which might explain why the report on it slipped past the staff team at first. That being said, DrAkimoto,
ReyDay, and
Liurnia rose to the occasion and will make sure the last month of spring isn't forgotten!
Any suggestions on what kind of topics can be discussed outside of the news, or maybe there's something you want explained more in-depth? Let us know!
Anti-AI Policy Reminder
Due to an increase in bans related to AI usage in writing. Staff would like to remind the community that the use of generative AI1 is strictly prohibited in all forms. The use of non-generative AI for the exclusive purposes of spellchecking,2, and translations3. AI writing goes against the spirit of this writing site, which is creating our own unique space with our writing. Let's celebrate the Backrooms together through originality and collaboration.
The Crit Crew
We now have a new Discord based critique team! The Crit Crew is an official non-staff, non-GLMP team that will hopefully help streamline the critique process and reward our critics for their hard work. With an additional focus on helping our critics improve, we are hopeful that this will help cultivate an even better critique environment going forward. If you are interested in joining, check out this page before contacting a Mod or Greenlighter on Discord.
The Gleeful Return of GLE
What is GLE? A Greenlight Exemption is when an author is granted permission to post any of their drafts without a greenlight or clear.
What are the requirements?? All applying Authors must have a minimum of three pages with +20 or more upvotes (+15 for tales), not including joke pages, themes, author pages, or components) and a minimum of five pages posted to the site in total.
Where do I apply??? You can learn more about GLE on our Greenlight Policy page, and the application can be found here.

Specifically, we want people who can do the maintenance tasks, run Discord events, and who are willing to help us revamp critique.
We also realize we need to communicate with the community better, so these are some topics staff is considering at the moment:
- PLEASE. STOP. USING. CHATGPT.
- After the successful launch of the new critic team, further critique reforms are being discussed.
- Maintenance is gearing up for the final pushes to make our site fully CC compliant.
As always, we are interested in hearing your thoughts and concerns—if you have anything you think we should be focusing on, please let us know on the suggestions-and-feedback channel on Discord.

These are the featured pages from May!
LEVEL 991 by Liurnia is a dangerous forest level—filled with corpses, entities who kill out of curiosity, and a nigh-divine creation. An eerie, ethereal, horror-driven article for those looking to get lost in the uncanny.

Object 94 - "Back OS™" is the premier operating system found in the Backrooms, mostly because other operating systems just don't work at all! This article takes a deep dive into Backrooms lore to unravel the history of Object 94. Written by Charles Delameuh, the article features very impressive images and CSS magic that are really worth scoping out on their own. If you're into techy stuff or are a history buff—this may be the article for you!

Known as one of the most vital and versatile assets in the Backrooms, we get a good scientific understanding of Dipotassium octaoxoiron sulfide in Object 15 - “Firesalt”! XRaggiX walks us through the inner workings of the combustible crystal. If you like deep dives into the chemistry behind anomalous objects, this is the page for you!
Entity 2 - "The Windows" by DrAkimoto explores what happens when the metaphysical meets the physical. When you can easily think yourself out of existence are any thoughts truly safe? Just make sure you avoid the Windows—the view is to die for.
And these are the 4 Pages of the Week over the course of the month of May!
