All the latest Backrooms news of the YEAR!
Hello folks!
It is- uhh *checks date* MID APRIL?! Yes folks, Praetor3005,
Abdallah Amr,
LaundryFan_04 and
Positive123 with you today. While February was quite uneventful, not event warranting a site news, March has been PACKED with events and changes that we will present below!
Please let us know if you have any suggestions for next month's newsletter! We're always looking for ways to improve. :3 don't tell Rey I stole this sentence from him.
Charcon is over!
J.Doe and his night with your mom or something idk I didn't read the page.
The latest team contest has finally concluded! Aiming to develop underused POIs, we have many pages for four of these characters, sometimes even supervised by their creators or custodians.
- In fourth place we have V for Valentin. Although with a rather heterogeneous writing skill level, they managed to work together to expand V. Valentin in many different scenarios, creating two of the most upvoted pages of the event.
- In third place we have Furry Curious. Led by Herne's creator themselves
BlueSignet, it created the long-awaited level of the Wild Hunt, as well as exploration of this place from different POV, all featuring Herne.
- In second place, we have Androgynous Aliens. With the help of the character creator
Mel-Raspberry, we not only saw the release of the long-awaited beginning of the alien's lore, but also the development of their character around humans and the Ariane Circle.
- And in first place we have… What team? Welp, either way, the four writers managed to pull off a co-written page focused on different interpretations of an ever-changing character. Congratulations to them for winning this contest!
We got 11 pages for this contest (15 if you count J Doe's offset as individual pages), representing roughly 35% of the posted pages of the month. Thanks a lot to everyone who participated, and we hope you had fun developing these characters as much as we loved reading about them!
Our wiki is five years old!
Crazy to think that Level 4 was ported on the wiki five years ago and STILL hasn't been rewritten (the curse is real).
Five years ago, on March 28th of 2020, the Backrooms wikidot was created. First an offspring of the Fandom Backrooms wiki, it quickly grew in popularity, attracting new and experienced writers alike to develop this incredible universe that so many of you have come to love over the years.
To celebrate this, we have cooked four weeks worth of events, focused on the pillars of this wiki: creating, reading and collaborating (yeah no crit event but there's a lot already, okay?)
- An art contest for a banner that will be used on the discord, and eventually on the new site hub
- Two Kahoot nights where the wiki knowledge of members was put to the test
- A writing blitz where people have to write short classic pages
- A collaborative project where people can add or respond to other in-universe messages of the M.E.G. "Lost and Found"
- A secret event that will occur on our Discord on April 25!
Archived Pages Hub

A very awesome and cool looking hub made by Praetor3005
As more and more older pages in our wiki get rewritten, either through Mass Trimming or through other means, our number of archived pages follows suit. Hence, the birth of the Archived Pages Hub! You can access any archived page easily through this brand-new hub. Before, your only way to ever find these pages was through CROM's search, which, while still viable, will be less effective in finding a specific archived page as the category gets more pages. Currently, we have 24 pages archived, with 9 levels, 5 entities, 1 object, 1 tale, 1 POI, 3 guides, 2 fragments, and 2 others, respectively. These numbers are expected to increase as our wiki gets more rewritten pages.
Legacy Author List
For the longest time, we had the disallowed rewrite list. It listed all articles from authors who wished for them to not be rewritten under ANY circumstances, whether onsite or deleted.
However, with time, this list started to conflict with our Creative Commons and collaborative nature, blocking deleted articles from coming back to the site. In addition, the list became redundant with the rewrite policy put in place later on, forcing members to first get authorization from the original authors to rewrite an onsite page. Not only this, but the rewrite list has been broken several times by some custodians of the original authors, with the approval of the latter.
As such, this list has now been deleted and replaced by the Legacy Authors List.
Now, this application-based list allows for some authors to have their onsite work stay on the wiki even if rewritten, instead moved to the Alternative Pages Hub with a legacy tag. This allows for the site to rework some articles if necessary, while still allowing authors to keep their work on-site even if they leave the community.
If you wish to apply, you can use the link here.
Project: Sandbox CECS Complete
Have you ever noticed that there are two different CECS components, one from the sandbox and one on-site? Well not anymore! Throughout February and March, Abdallah Amr1 started working on what he calls "Project: Sandbox CECS", which is basically a mini-wikiproject whose purpose is to snipe and replace every single use of the deprecated sandbox version with the more maintained on-site version. Alongside this, we have introduced a few hotfixes to the on-site version itself to fix some bugs.
Now, all articles use the on-site version, and we encourage you to do so on your drafts as well! It is maintained by staff so you know it will never break in the future ;)
Misc
We have some new misc things to check out! New Tags, a new Sandbox Hub and more! You can check out all the new stuff here! (link to the new hub and tags)
The Sandbox Site's hub page got a relooking! It now links different guides on how to use and manage a sandbox page, as well as criticism-related elements for the validation process. Make sure to check it if you need some help writing your first page!
We also got a bunch of new wiki tags! Feel free to check your pages and see if you can add them there:
- Nyx
- Herne the Huntmaster
- Anthony Kelvin
- i.m.b.h.
