All the latest Backrooms news of the YEAR!
Hello folks!
Happy new year! As we go into 2025, we want to recap not only the month of December, but all of the progress we've made in 2024! ReyDay,
Praetor3005,
LiminalDoctor and
Super-Robot14 hope you will follow along as we take you through a time capsule of 2024!
Please let us know if you have any suggestions for next month's newsletter! We're always looking for ways to improve (which you will see more of later). :3
Secret Santa has ended!

What better way to celebrate christmas than following two partygoers in a cave? Actually probably a lot of things but let's not worry about that.
Twenty people have made and recieved a gift for this year's installment of the Secret Santa!. Huge thanks to everyone who participated, and we hope you had fun writing or drawing a gift and enjoyed the one you got.
Out of all the gifts, two have even been uploaded on the site! They are Balloony Tunes and Silent Knight, and more might be uploaded in the future!
A huge thanks again to all participants, and we hope to see you next year!
Mass Trimming Progression
This is the disclaimer you will see on pages open for rewrite.
The mass trimming of old pages had a lot of progress and changes going on in the past few weeks.
So far, 4 pages have been trimmed, and 15 have been opened for rewrite. In addition, Windows, Deathmoths, Jerry, Jerry's Room, The Hive, The Plane and The Carrier are all being rewritten right now. You can find all of the information in the Trimmed Pages Hub.
In addition, we also made a slight tweak in how pages are moved. Now, pages open for rewrite won't be moved into the trimmed: category, but kept in the main list with a note saying it's open for rewrite and a disclaimer at the top (see image). This should make them more noticeable to the public, leading to more applications. If you're interested by one, feel free to apply!
Alternative Pages Hub

This comes from an alternative Level 4 page!
This wiki is using the Creative Commons license, which means people are technically free to create their own takes on existing wiki pages. However, so far, only the Desolation Canon really took advantage of this.
To give people a place to upload their own takes on wiki pages, the Alternative Pages Hub has been created! There, you can find all pages tagged with the alternate tag, which are all articles that are different takes on pages in the main lists. Want to give it a shot? make sure you check the guidelines at the bottom of the page!
Yearly Community Poll!
Like every year, we have our community poll for the year 2024! You can find it here.
Like every year, this is YOUR chance to give us your feelings and thoughts about what happened this year. 2024 had a lot of changes as a way to give the wiki a purpose and a direction. What do you think of everything? Do you have concerns? Do you have ideas to share? Now is the time to tell us!
The form only takes five to ten minutes to answer, and your answers will allow us to see what the general community, writers or readers, thought about this pivotal year for the wiki.
We got another Rey stats section before GTA 6
Well, now that the year has ended, that begs the question: how much progress have we actually made with the site? Well, I have an answer for you stats nerds and Cluster I completionists!
In 2024, we got a whopping 178 new pages! Here’s how it was broken down over the course of the year:
- We got 80 new levels(59 normal levels, 16 sublayers, and 5 unnumbered)
- We got 16 new entities(14 normal entities and 2 unnumbered)
- We got 11 new objects
- We got 9 new phenomena
- We got 55 new tales
- We got 3 new groups
- We got 4 new POI’s
- We got 5 new canons (though only 3 have hubs)
That is a heck of a lot of progress in Cluster I and lore development! Additionally, 9 pages were rewritten this year, 24 art pages were made, and we had 8 people post their author pages!
I can’t wait to see the progress we make in 2025. :3
Repairs & Upgrades
We have fixed and upgraded a heck of a lot of the site this month! For starters, we have replaced a heck of a lot of non-CC images! The following pages have had image replacements:
- Level 699
- Level 609
- Level 610
- Level 712
- Level 730
- Level 808
- Level 834
All of these pages are now significantly closer to being or are now entirely CC-compliant, thanks to LiminalDoctor! Yet another step closer to making the site completely CC-compliant.
Additionally, we have fixed EVERY broken image on the site (that we know of)! This includes the following:
- The Scrimblo Catalog
- The Sun giveth then taketh away
- Level 350
- Level 121
- Level 279
- Level 360
- Object 26
- Object 37
- Phenomenon 24
Huge thanks to Abdallah Amr and
ReyDay1 for helping fix all of these images.
Alongside these replacements, LiminalDoctor,
pnn wepm, and
Schulzenreich have all made incredible progress with adding license boxes to older pages!2
We have also changed the requirements for a POI/Character tag! In order to get a tag for your character, it must meet one of the following quotas without being too highly associated with an existing tag:
1. Has 5 pages where the character plays a vital role in the page from 3 different authors(including yourself)
2. Has 7 pages where the character plays a vital role in the page
With these new requirements, the following tags have been added:
- Janus
- Diana Evelynn
- The Actor
If you know of a POI or a character that meets these requirements, please make a post in the Tag Suggestion Thread so that we can add the tag!
Features, features!
What better way to recap the year than to relax and read up all of the new lore additions to the site? Along with the summaries of the 4 features from the month of December, you (yes, you!) can vote on the 2024 Annual Features! Each month will have 4 pages (the respective features from that month) for you to choose from3 for a total of 12 11 Annual Features! Happy voting!
To vote for Annual Features, fill out this form: here!
Now, the moment you've all been waiting for… Let's get into the features from the month of December!
How would you feel if you had to traverse such a barren place? With Level 407 - "Lost Souls Live in Dead Meadows", AlwaysWandering takes a seemingly simple concept, and gives life to a dead place with a narrative tone. If you like classic Backrooms articles, make sure to check it!

War, war never changes. With Level 49 - "The Unfilled River of Phlegethon", exotichive has rewritten the old Trenches of Grimme by expanding the lore of the level and developping its threats to truly make the reader immersed into the difficult life in the trenches.
There's vegetation in the Habitable Zone, what could it mean? With Level 1.2 - "Concrete Garden", Praetor3005 shows Olivia Bellerose discovering and exploring a rather surreal overgrown part of Level 1 during the first year of the M.E.G. What mysteries could lie there?

The Ariane Circle is fading as the Black Knights gain more power. Can the Backrooms be saved? With Silent Knight, Spectre48 shows both the inability of the Circle to work together and the slow yet worrying rise of the influence of the Black Knights in the Backrooms.
And now the art features! This month we have:
- A M.E.G. propaganda poster by
Light_Nate
- A dreadful environment by iimrrandomii
- A partypooper contemplating life by
HasukoDoesNotExist
- Nook in Sublimity by
Nooknic14
- The Terror Hotel Staff in the Endless City by Arys
- A sketch of the Neighboorhood Watch by

CutTheBirch 12/29
- Level 90 by
ratscrapz 12/22
- Archived Journals of Lucy Fox by
Natedagreat563 12/16

- Case Closed by
Greggita Mahayfaio 12/3
Staff and GLMP Updates!
To start things off, Schulzenreich and
YourWeirdPlant have been accepted as j-staff, along with
Abdallah Amr as a staff helper!
pnn wepm was also promoted to Moderator. Additionally,
Poliacci has been promoted to admin and is now the head of the community team.
We also restructured the way Disciplinary Team and Admin positions accept new members. Staff members now must fill out an application to join/be promoted to either position, which will be voted on by the Disciplinary Team and Staff respectively.
On the GLMP side of things, Liurnia has returned as a Greenlighter, though
Nikuchan and
Clinically Insane have stepped down from their respective positions in the GLMP.

Good job with killing backrooms with useless rewrites/ level deletion even more
Watch me stab the Backrooms
The backrooms came out to have a good time and honestly it’s feeling really attacked right now
thank you! <3 we worked VERY hard on it!
Level 34 article is an absolut masterpiece. It should definitely represent our wiki. Have a nice day
I'm killing backrooms with useless rewrites/ level deletion so hard right now
God Save The King
I really liked the timeline of 2024. Very neat
The truth is that backrooms are life, I want to be in this community even if I'm Argentine
I'm doing a level but I'm scared that they won't like it or insult me for it.
The truth is that I love you all and long live this community.
Hey! We welcome all people attempting to write and make levels :)
We also have a Spanish Branch if you'd like to attempt to make levels for them as well!
Shouldn't the tesseract link lead to the art page?
fixed :>
