SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:
Class 2
- {$one}
- {$two}
- {$three}
Level PT-1 is the second Level of the Lusophone Backrooms. The level is known for its low presence of Entities, however, its ambient danger should not be underestimated.
Description:
The floor known as Level PT-1 is an office complex of, at the moment, undefined dimensions. The main characteristic of the place is the presence of plants and fungi that grow in various regions of the level. These plants generally grow in places where they wouldn’t acquire any sustenance. The method by which these organisms survive is unknown.
The vegetative life on Level PT-1 doesn’t appear to have a limit on growth, expanding to a point in which it covers whole rooms of the level. Additionally, the plants show great structural resistance. This makes explorations of the level difficult at times and forces wanderer groups to migrate.
The level is rich in bacterial fauna. Multiple microorganisms can be found throughout Level PT-1, being especially present in places on the floor with the biggest plant presence. The meaning behind this is unknown; more studies are being conducted that are limited due to the lack of technology and I.P.D.L.B. operatives in the place.
Due to the high number of microorganisms, eventually some began to show abnormal biological behavior. This has caused many problems for the level and its population. The occurrence of a pandemic in the Backrooms is feared due to these factors. For more information regarding the occurrences of epidemics on Level PT-1, see the section “The Gardeners Incident.”.
Technologies like computers, lights, and other objects are normally found in offices are present on the level. However, many pieces are found broken or damaged. The level's vegetative life has caused the destruction of some of these objects.
Due to the uncontrollable plant growth, it is believed that the level’s structures may eventually be irreversibly damaged. Because of this, the I.P.D.L.B. has joined forces with local groups to control the plants’ growth in inhabited regions while evacuation plans are being concluded.
The Gardeners Incident
Approximately two years after the date of writing this archive, a group of survivors on Level PT-1 known as “Gardeners” were infected by an unknown micro-organism during the removal of some plants that were damaging the Level’s structure. The infection occurred due to the wounds made accidentally during the removal.
Initially, the procedure followed as expected by the group, until two days after the removal of a plant that covered some regions of the level. At that moment, the members who participated in the removal began to demonstrate symptoms not corresponding to any known disease.
The members affected by the micro-organism began to manifest traits of vegetal life on their bodies. The individuals began to develop leaves and wood on various parts of their bodies, which was reported as being very painful.
In a short time, the infection began to spread to other levels connected to Level PT-1 and caused an epidemic among the diverse Wanderers' groups. The I.P.D.L.B. intervened in the situation and isolated groups and infected individuals while researching the cause of the event. With the help of other influent groups, the infection was contained.
I.P.D.L.B. members are working with other Wanderers with knowledge in the area of infectiology and related fields. Other measures to prevent future incidents are being applied on Level PT-1.
The surviving individuals were moved to an I.P.D.L.B. outpost for further analysis. At the moment, all have died and had their bodies incinerated.
Entities:
Not many entities were seen in Level PT-1. There have been reports of encounters with the Newcomers at various points of the level. Curiously, the most reported encounter with entities is, in actuality, the corpses of these beings.
These corpses are mainly found in regions with a large plant concentration. Usually, the bodies have plants growing in them. The cause of death of these entities cannot be identified at the moment. Additionally, it's often not possible to determine to which entity the bodies belong, due to the plant growth and other deformities.
Bases, Outposts, and Communities:
There are few communities on the level. The existing ones are being slowly evacuated or were already relocated by the I.P.D.L.B. to other levels. It’s discouraged to build any type of group on Level PT-1.
The Gardeners (deceased)
Previously, The Gardeners was a group composed of around 10 people; the name of the group came from its focus on the removal of plants present in the level. The plants removed by the group were traded with other survivors for various means, including the object and food fabrication. The I.P.D.L.B. utilized the group’s help to remove the plants from various regions on the level.
I.P.D.L.B. Gamma Outpost "Jungle"
An outpost divided along the Level, being located at different points in the Entrances and Exits of Level PT-1. I.P.D.L.B. members have the mission of monitoring the entrances and exits of the Level to avoid that any infected of any diseases leave the place.
If you are infected or know someone who is infected by any illness from Level PT-1, contact any I.P.D.L.B. member in any section of the Outpost.
Office Soldiers
A group formed by ex-soldiers and members of the armed forces who ended up finding themselves in the Backrooms. The group is non-hostile but doesn’t like outside wanderers. The group’s installations are small cabins located in the southern region of the level. The group possesses grand tendencies of isolating itself from other Wanderers.
Most of the information about the group is unknown. Communication with the community’s members is hard, but not impossible. Rarely does the group talk with outsiders.
Entrances And Exits:
Entrances:
- Finding an office door emitting insect sounds leads to this level.
- Eating contaminated food on Level PT-37 leads to here.
- Entering a green door overrun by moss on Level PT-51’s forest leads to one of the offices.
Exits:
- Upon entering any door marked as a bathroom, a Wanderer will be transported to Level PT-3.
- Following the sounds of waves leads to Level PT-11.
- No-clipping on this level will lead to Level PT-31.

Dear all,
Firstly, I would like to thank you for the excellent work that you have been doing, cataloging Level PT-1. Your services have been saving a lot of wanderers from the dangers of the floor. All of you deserve congratulations.
But, honestly, we don’t have time for that. There is something that all of us involved with the level need to know; all from our side, of course. I ask that you do not reveal this information under any circumstance to anyone; we don’t know what could happen if something like this reaches the wrong hands.
The information you need to know is that the plants aren’t native to the floor. We don’t know how they came, if they were created, etc. The relevant thing is that, as you may have noticed, the plants aren’t normal. Maybe we shouldn’t even call them plants, but anyway.
They are parasites, migrating from level to level; PT-1 is merely infected. During the Garderners Incident, it wasn’t only the diseases that left, but the plants too. We don’t know how, but those damn things expanded to more and more levels. The current theory is that they use some limited form of no-clip, but this can’t be confirmed.
As the only essential fact, the plants and diseases are connected. During an exploration on PT-5, we found something: a replica of one of those plants with a small description. It said that they were capable of producing multiple non-identified pathogens. Further research is being conducted, but I deduce that we won’t find anything else.
Our main objective is to avoid panic. We will continue removing the plants and the wanderers from the Level. The current plan is to move everyone to the Aquatic Corridor in a few months. Because of this, I ask for dedication like I never asked any of you.
