Description

Level 828, also known as Fort Pillow, takes the form of an infinite, enclosed complex, segmented randomly into smaller structures and is constructed entirely out of bedding accessories.

Pillows act as the main component of Level 828, stacking up haphazardly to create the surrounding walls, flooring, and ceiling. They appear in various types and shapes—sometimes even clipping into each other—and are stuffed with materials like feathers, cotton, or wool. Objects may also be found within them; the level’s dim illumination comes from pillows with functioning LED flashlights inside. Other recorded objects include:

  • Bottles containing Almond Water or Lucky O’ Milk.
  • Candy, or other normal types of sweets.
  • Notebooks, paper sheets, and colored pencils.
  • Non-functional models of early hand-held game consoles from the Frontrooms.
  • Human teeth. All examinations until now have concluded them to be milk teeth1.

In addition, different kinds of blankets and stuffed toys are present as well, either sprawled around or packed in between the pillows’ gaps.

Remarkably, the bedding accessories of Level 828 exert an unknown attractive force towards each other. This property extends to similar items brought into 828 and will disappear upon such items’ removal from it, no matter their origins. The force proves sufficient in maintaining the complex’s structural integrity and preventing objects from falling through the pillow floor. Simultaneously, individual items can be moved around with ease, making the creation of new openings and cavities through surfaces possible. It is worth mentioning that Level 828 is single-story, and breaches through the floor or ceiling will only lead nowhere. Apart from this, the bedding does not exhibit any other unusual effects; in fact, they are all pristine in condition and deemed suitable for normal use.

The environment of Level 828 poses no hazards toward humans, with temperatures fluctuating between 8 and 12°C2 and almost no humidity present. Coupled with an absence of entity sightings, traversal of the level can be done without much difficulty, although it might feel somewhat unstable and resistive when walking on the pillow beds. Some wanderers have reported that they can recognize piano melodies, specifically related to their childhood memories, echoing about occasionally. While these sounds always seem to originate from just beyond the immediate walls, every recorded attempt to locate their source has been unsuccessful. Apart from them, Level 828 is devoid of any background noises.

Not only is it safe to sleep on the level, but the experience has been regarded by many as “abnormally exceptional.” Falling asleep here is trivial for anyone, regardless of their usual tendencies, and the sleep will always be sound and uninterrupted. Furthermore, it induces restorative characteristics, making wanderers feel refreshed and revitalized after waking up while also hastening the healing process of physical injuries.

As Level 828 is dimly lit, wanderers are advised to remain aware of their surroundings to avoid potentially harming those asleep by accident.

Discovery

Level 828 was first encountered on 21/03/21 by Michael Saunders-Brown (4) and his mother, Lily Saunders-Brown (31), from inside a wardrobe within their residence in Level 11.



“Well, he (Michael) got very excited when I told him about the pillow forts I had as a kid, so I decided to make one for him secretly. Pillows and blankets weren’t a problem for me - a flat nearby is stacked to the roof with them, but our own flat has so few items in itself, and the fort would just keep collapsing with whatever I used to support it. In the end, I settled with cushioning the interior of our bedroom’s wardrobe with pillows and covering a large blanket over its opened doors. Mike was delighted when he came back from class, really. I don’t recall he even got out for lunch that day.

It happened sometime in the afternoon. I was working in the living room when he came up, told me 'Look at my fort, Ma!', and pulled me toward our bedroom. I thought he probably had drawn or made something in there, but then I saw the wardrobe. Its entire back panel had been replaced with pillows - layers of them - and there was a small archway leading into the structure that my son had made. I followed him through, and there was just this huge space on the other side; I only found out later that the whole thing had been there since he first entered the wardrobe! Of course, I was straight up freaking out at this point, so I rushed Mike out of the flat, locked it up, and then contacted you guys."

Following the arrival of M.E.G personnel, the entire building containing Level 828's entrance was vacated, with its inhabitants temporarily relocated to Base Alpha on Level 1. They were cleared to return one week later when the surrounding area was declared safe and secured, except for the Saunders-Browns, who were offered and agreed to reside in the base. The M.E.G carried out experimentations and expeditions into the level throughout the rest of March and April; on 02/05/21, the entrance became available to the public.

  • Located about 20 meters3 to the right of the entrance. This area is adequately lit and equipped with proper furnishings and appliances.
  • Consists of 15 people (4 therapists, 8 assistants, and 3 security personnel).
  • Provides assistance and therapy sessions to those in need.

Apart from the team, Level 828 holds a community of around 50 to 60 wanderers at any given time, mainly coming in to utilize the level’s phenomenon. Most of them gather around the Psychology Team’s location and are friendly toward others.

Entrances And Exits

Entrances

  • To date, the wardrobe on Level 11 remains the only known entrance to Level 828.

Exits

  • Leaving through the same wardrobe will lead one back to Level 11.
  • Notably, instances of involuntary noclipping have never been observed on Level 828. Brute-force attempts, however, will send one to either Level 18 or Level 63.

It is unclear whether the event on 23/03/21 marks the creation of the level or if it had simply established a new entry into 828. The search for other entrances and exits is still ongoing.
