One of the oldest historical relics of Backrooms history, detailing what appears to be early humans descending into what is now known as Level 669.
Circa 10,000 BCE.
Sweetheart, please. We urge you to not go with the rest of the team to those caves tomorrow. You will fight against us, you have, but Tikal and I urge you to reconsider before the local morrow rolls. They are a physical, terminal plague for all who enter, and do not think for even a second that you will be any different to those who came before.
Return to Hoofstad, sweetheart. I know your mother cannot bear the idea of another dead relative, let alone another one to die to the underground. Even if you stubbornly wish to go, at least return home momentarily so we can discuss your choices. I love you.
An excerpt from a note sent between two lovers from the early era of the Lost. Notably, the individual being warned not to enter Level 669 is the daughter of the first Lost leader, Tikal.
Circa 1000 BCE.
STONES FOR OUR TAKEN SOULS, FOR THE LIVES RIPPED FROM US BY THE PITS THAT DOT THE MILLENNIUM REALMS. WE BALANCE THE FORCES BY TAKING MASS AWAY FROM THIS BEAST, CARVING A MESSAGE IN ITS SKIN FOR ALL TO SEE. WE WIN.
A stone carving found at what is presumed to be the entrance to a ruined town within Level 374 in reference to Level 669. Back in those times, the level lacked any manmade structures; however, the gradual evolution of the level and the sprouting of its monuments have caused many of these ruins to be destroyed.
Circa 25 CE.
Your great honour, I do regret to inform you that more of the foolish have willingly committed themselves to venturing into the Beyond Pit yet again. We have warned them, signposted it, and threaded our cautions into just about any and every mass without it seeming too overbearing. However, the "great curiosity", as the sisters have called it, continues to consume. As if we are not already in a hellish and sinful land already, these serfs continue to throw themselves into Lucifer's true hell willingly.
Forgive me for speaking my mind, your honour, but I feel as though it would have been beneficial to settle elsewhere in our years of youth. The pit entrance gave us good stone and mineral, but what lies subsurface, I feel, should have been a warning for us to vacate to the more highland prairie spaces. As to not offend the judgement of yourself and your ancestors, however, I propose we bury or barricade this pit, just to stop these fools going in for "exploration" or to save anyone down there who is surely already in the devil's realm.
Supposedly, a group of so-called protesters plan to storm the pit and our good-hearted miners in backlash to us not fishing out the previous fools who jumped down. I am sure the Watchmen will apprehend them and they will be fined or shamed appropriately, but should this occur again, I do think a more "final" display of discipline should be used. Just to get our commonfolk to quell their craze over this pit.
A short letter sent between one landowner and the ruler of a now extinct Backrooms GOI that was founded some time before the writing of the Domesday Book in 1086 England. Here, they discuss an entrance to Level 669 from their home level of Level 184, an entrance that led to rapid infighting and the group's eventual demise.
Circa 1100 CE.

Consider it gone!
An image from a small community inside of a vastly different, early Victorian era Level 9, featuring a couple posing in front of a blocked-off entrance to Level 669. This entrance, according to records, was where they "banished" many entities that began invading their town. An early warning of the change that Level 9 would endure at the turn of the 20th century.

Submission form 67: "Cave 6"
Recently, a new cave world has been discovered within an opening inside of Agriculture 2, seemingly existing somewhere underneath the parent location. Similar to Cave 1 being underneath Ocean 1, this series of caves is a lot narrower, and most likely are artificially dug based on their width and height matching both the height of an average human and the approximate dimensions of mineshafts.
Holding up these cave walls are freshly cut supports made of weatherproofed wood, with occasional wooden flooring of similar build quality. In areas where there is this flooring, there are usually less pristine tracks and minecarts, with the wear and tear on the former most likely coming from extended use of the latter. As only one individual has been into Cave 6 at this current moment, it is not known if these are manmade or a feature of the peculiar landscape of the Outside. Regardless, these features of unknown origin are down every tight passageway, fork, and intersection descending seemingly endlessly.
Those with an acute sense will notice that this submission form has been paired with submission form 68 for a replacement walkie-talkie. Although the numbers of soldiers who have recently travelled has dwindled since the past year, we still have a good stock of their bulky communication devices, which need to be assigned to us explorers. The ensign which went into Cave 6 unfortunately did not return. According to them, the hole they went through was not visible upon descending into it, and they did not find another exit. At a certain depth, their radio cut connection after over three hours of inconsistency. As they have not returned, and it has been a week since they first descended, it can be assumed that they have passed away.
There are no images yet of Cave 6, as the ensign did not take a camera with them (if one would have even functioned well in the dim light), and if the space has no exits to speak of, it will be practically impossible to get images of it at all. All knowledge of its actual appearance is anecdotal from the presumably dead ensign and what could be seen from the entrance hole itself. There is also evidence of this space having historical ties to other communities from ancient history, if another entrance in Urban 8 is anything to go off of.
This space can be accessed from Agriculture 1, Cave 1, Ocean 6, Urban 1, Urban 8, and Rural 3. As we currently understand it, there are no known ways to leave it.
Signed:
Stephen Arwell.
The first modern-day documentation of Level 669, then known as Cave 6, by PUG (Poli's Unified Group) in the General Public Database's infancy (having only existed for just over three years by the time this page was written with a typewriter). No further information was ever uncovered by PUG, with the organisation liquidating in 1987.

A surviving chat log from the mostly extinct and overwritten Archway OS, utilised by the defunct group known as the Leaders. These individuals were fleeing what would later be known as Level 186 due to fears of a skirmish from Emstable, since the two groups were at war with each other at the time. Both individuals never resurfaced, and the rope vanished by the turn of the millennia.

This page isn't quite finished yet! It's being uploaded publicly just because it's important, and we're a bit busy here in Base Alpha. This will be done… whenever.
- Overseer A & Melody Parker

Level 669 is the 670th level of the Backrooms,Although only the 26th we've catalogued and uploaded. - Asher River resembling Level 8 rather heavily.
Description

A typical tunnel in Level 669. This is the number we're going with? Seems awfully high, we should really limit which numbers we can pick. - Melody Parker.
Level 669 is an underground, claustrophobic level made of long and winding mineshaft tunnels and burrows, forking and intersecting for hundreds of thousands of miles. These tunnels show signs of clear age and neglect, mainly in the wooden pillars and flooring, which are all pale and withered.
It is possible to chip away at the stone and form new tunnels in Level 669, a task made easier by the abundance of mining tools present in Level 669. However, it is recommended to just follow the tunnels if one ends up in this level due to how hard it is to mine the stone.Obviously? This doesn't need to be here. - Melody Parker.
Level 669 is lit by both oil and antique electrical lamps. The latter are wired by crudely hung copper wires insulated in a chalk-covered rubber. These lamps remove the difficulty that comes from exploring other natural underground spaces such as Level 8 and its as-of-yet unnamed related levels. Lamps are seemingly not the only propsThis isn't theatre. - Somalia Hanks. that can appear within Level 669 either, as rusty tools like pickaxes and shovels are also littered around the level's tunnels.

The deeper sections of Level 669. No images of clear quality exist on the database, as the one utilised above is from a dropped camera that was recording at the time.
Should one survive long enough and descend far down into the depths of the level, its stone changes from orange sedimentary rock into a more anomalous stone that appears to be an odd mix of slate and bedrock. These deeper chasms are completely devoid of light and mining equipment. The most that can be found, based on the limited data we have, are the supports for the actual structural stability of these caves and rusty rails for minecarts. These can also be found in the above areas, we should probably add that fact in with later revisions. - Somalia Hanks.
Entities
Level 669 is home to a few of the usual, low-numbered entities that are present across most discovered Backrooms levels. Smilers and Hounds are the most abundant monsters that can be found, with occasional sightings of Clumps also being reported, albeit from records not of our own.We can just refer to ourselves as The M.E.G. in this, we're not the only group out there. - Asher River.
Additional Info

A low quality image discovered on the remnants that the M.E.G. database is built upon, being the only clear photo of what is believed to be the bottom of Level 669.
^^ You know we could probably give this a more specific title? The template we found seems pretty malleable, so I doubt people would mind if we did this. - Melody Parker
Whilst Level 669 is not the most dangerous level in the BackroomsThis is not really a claim we can make, we only have 26 of these things documented. - Asher River, it's a unique danger as it is impossible to exit. From the records we have accessed, Level 669 has been witnessed and documented for many centuries, with all who find it coming to the same conclusion we have about it being impossible to exit.
It is not currently known why this level is impossible to exit. It is also possible that there exists some kind of entity, or species of entity, that hunts those in Level 669 and blocks them from finding an exit, although neither claim is substantiated. For the time being, though, it is assumed that something lives in Level 669, as a level devoid of exits has not yet appeared in our travels both in-person and across the digital General Public Database.1
Level 669 has always had an aura of superstition attached to it throughout most of history, which in turn has brought people towards it. Communities have set up their villages near its entrances, stones have been taken to build homes, and some communities have even collapsed under mass hysteria stirred by panics. Others have also tried to use Level 669 as some method of escape from entities or people, although details on that specific instance are sparse. We at the newly formed M.E.G., however, have decided to try and put an end to this loop. There are other groups out there who document like we do, and with more manpower and tools than us; however, none of them desire to talk about Level 669 like we do. As such, we hope to stand out and make ourselves known by openly spreading the information that we know about this level and the warning to never enter it.
Pieces of evidence of Level 669's history have been scattered across the "General Public Database", as well as the specific operating system we have been using. We have decided to collate it together and make it as accessible as possible. Level 669 is not to be entered by any means, whether to prove something, escape something, or for any other reason one can imagine. People must not live or go near its entrances unless they want to cause yet another episode of mass hysteria to add to the dozens that have happened in the past. If Level 669 is intent on being a vice to the history of the Backrooms, it should be the duty of those who can to make sure it never happens again. It seems that duty has fallen to us.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
Currently, the main entrance to Level 669 is in Level 8, found at high elevations within the level's dangerous cave structures. Other entrances are in the recently de-officialised PA3 (Level 9), PA4 (Level 10), and PA6 (Level 28), which all take the form of cave openings in the ground. When using Level 8's entrance, transportation appears to happen almost instantaneously, similar to traversal from the real world into the Backrooms. We really need a term for the process of entering the Backrooms, honestly. Perhaps one for the real world too. - Melody Parker.
However, entering into Level 669 from the other levels operates much differently and much more conventionally. Descent into the cavern openings usually requires a small drop, but either rope or careful planning can be used to make the descent as smooth as possible. Upon doing so, however, the opening will not be visible from within Level 669 itself, blocking access back altogether.
Exits
As detailed already, Level 669 is impossible to exit. At risk of not repeating already stated information, do not enter Level 669 under any circumstances for the sake of your own safety.
Documentation from a large group known as the M.E.G. in their infancy about Level 669, notably being the individuals to give it the name that has stuck the longest. Their aims to spread information about Level 669 were successful, as both this page and future ventures dramatically lowered the number of deaths surrounding it for centuries. To ensure they were never lured into Level 669, documentation on it ceased after just a few more drafts, with this specific draft being the only one surviving today. The M.E.G. conglomerated into the M.E.O.D. nine years after this page, which in turn liquidated into hundreds of independent parties at the turn of the 22nd century. As the M.E.O.D. also did scarce documentation, and the Neo Dark Age followed after its collapse, this is the last known primary source about Level 669 until the 28th century.
