DESCRIPTION

Missing alt text.

A corridor in Level 510.

Level 510 consists of monotonous, gray halls that repeat endlessly— each hallway maintains a width and height of two meters. This level is believed to have a similar isolating effect to Level 0, as no traces of other humans have been discovered within it so far.

The tunnel that makes up Level 510 extends infinitely in both directions, lined with random entrances on either side. The way these intersections behave suggests that Level 510's space might be Euclidean, since they merely lead wanderers into different corridors rather than causing more unusual effects.

All wanderers who entered Level 510 reported a profound sense of unease. Despite the absence of entities posing significant hazards in Level 510, the M.E.G. attributed this phenomenon to the pervasive noise inside that level. Wanderers in Level 510 intermittently hear the sounds of people varying in age bashing objects against one another as well as sobbing. At times, these sounds intensify, leading wanderers to believe something is chasing them.

Warning: If you find yourself in this section, find the nearest exit—this is located at the right side of the hall, with a passage containing a glowing light behind it. All wanderers who have remained in Level 510 for 30 minutes have lost contact without exception. We have not confirmed the status of these wanderers.

It took you some time to recall that you arrived at this place through an iron gate in Level 3. Your eyes dart around the dimly lit hallway, half-crouched as you scan the place. No entities?

You've been walking for what feels like hours. A sigh, both in relief and exhaustion, rolls out of your mouth…

Who's knocking? Is it SOS? Why use signals down here when phones don't work? Since these sounds pose no danger, you decide to sit down and rest. Perhaps it's the monotonous environment you've been observing for too long; the world begins to spin.

THE 510 SYNDROME

The 510 Syndrome is a collective term for a series of symptoms that manifest in individuals entering Level 510. The pathogenesis of this syndrome is currently unknown; however, it is known to worsen the longer a wanderer remains in Level 510, which can be found below:

Time of Stay Symptoms
5 minutes Dizziness and itchy skin. There have been uncommon reports of villi growing on the skin during this stage.
10 minutes The patient begins to cough which may lead to hemoptysis. This is occasionally accompanied by severe pharyngitis.1
15 minutes At this stage, patients begin to experience hallucinations, a typical example of which is feeling the ceiling rising. These hallucinations are very dangerous, as they usually slow down the speed of wanderers escaping Level 510.
25 minutes Patients often display confusion, with many even believing that feathers or bird beaks are growing from their bodies. Because almost no one escapes Level 510 after reaching this stage, the exact effects on individuals remain unknown.

Some people suspect that the wanderer who disappeared in Level 510 died due to the 510 Syndrome. However, since no bodies of wanderers have been discovered in Level 510, this hypothesis remains unverified.

No known method can treat 510 Syndrome aside from leaving the level itself.

Rough coughs force their way out of your mouth, leaving a metallic aftertaste. What kind of disease is this? You need to leave.

One step, two, ten, twenty. Your eyes dart around, looking for an escape, yet are only met with disappointment. At that moment, a familiar voice echoed in your ear: three quick knocks, three slow knocks, three quick knocks again. Is it closer? The environment here is repetitive, so moving toward the sound source seems to be your best option at this time.

The sound imprints itself in your mind. You should be there by now. You just know it. You walk to an intersection and observe the situation in another tunnel. To your surprise, unlike the usual lifeless state, you discovered some… Wait, are those living beings?

The Grey Sparrows are the only entities in Level 510. They appear to be proportionally enlarged versions of sparrows found in the Frontrooms, with the only notable difference being their overall gray coloration. Their height is approximately 1.5 meters, which is slightly shorter than the average height of normal adults2. They also possess intelligence similar to that of adults.

When Gray Sparrows encounter wanderers, they become quite excited and attempt to follow them. They also try to communicate with wanderers using their own form of language. Additionally, they use their beaks to knock on the floor and make regular sounds that resemble Morse code. Most of these sounds follow the sequence of three quick knocks, three slow knocks, three quick knocks3.

Although supplies are limited in Level 510, we strongly discourage the consumption of grey sparrow meat. Some wanderers have developed symptoms of prion4 infection after consuming it.

In addition, most Gray Sparrows produce a distinctly different sob from their call, resembling the sound of human crying. Their anatomy reveals that they possess a vocal system similar to that of humans; however, its location is quite unusual, and airflow through it occurs only in rare instances.

Three sharp knocks. Three slow. Three quick.

They peck autonomously at the wall as you stepped past quietly, making a knocking noise—disinterested in your presence, until they aren't. One pauses. Then another. A chorus of high, frantic chirps erupts, urgent, almost… pleading.

Were they hungry? Lonely? Calling out for mates perhaps? No… this was different.

For a brief moment, their presence brought a strange comfort… You brush your hand against your arm and feel something foreign.

A downy texture. Too soft to be anything else.

You don't look.

Once you turn to leave, they quiet again. One tilts its head, making a loud squawk. Another backs away. The rain of chirps is now replaced with the hush of something withheld.

You feel them watching as you step away. A kind of sorrow one only gets from seeing a loved one pass away.

ENTRANCES & EXITS

Entrances

In Level 2 and Level 3, a heavy iron door can be found that leads you to Level 510.

Exits

There will be some very narrow corridors randomly appearing. Passing through it leads to Level 15. It is worth noting that many Grey Sparrows often gather in front of these exits, even if their size does not allow them to pass through.

You've been walking for so long.

Everything blurs together at this point; same colors, same corners, same quiet. How long has it been? Hours? Days? Years maybe? It's possible you've only been walking a few minutes. You're not sure.

And yet, you still walk. It's all you know how to do.

Then… Footsteps.

Soft. Simple. Another person.

Your heart rises before you can properly process.

You call out. Your voice is raw from disuse, but still, it tries. You step towards him, searching for recognition, connection, something. Anything.

He simply ignores you; walks past nonchalantly, as if you were never there to begin with.

You want to follow, yet your body lurches. You fall.

For some reason, the ground feels soft, almost like something broke your fall. You try picking yourself back up, to start again, but your fingers never feel the cold concrete ground. You can't move them. Why can't you?

You look at your hands, only to realize there's nothing there. Just a wing. Soft. Grey and trembling.

A knot forms in your stomach as you reach to touch your face. There's no nose. No facial structure. No soft mouth or skin. Not even the basic amount of hair. Just soft feathers… A beak.

You sit there for a moment, knees drawn close to what's left of your inhuman body and begin to cry.

Soft. Exhausted. Tired of everything turning against you in life. The kind that comes when you've been too strong for too long and you finally come to terms with that.

You reminisce on a time not so long ago. One where you were heard. One where you could laugh. One where you knew others could understand.

You remember being human.

But you don't even have that anymore.

You slam your beak into the wall. Autonomously. Over and over, expecting a result each time, and every moment being let down, hoping someone will hear. Hoping someone will knock back.
