The Gentle Night

Description

This Level manifests as a simple room. The space contains a single bed and one to three doors lining the walls. Upon entering, there is a possibility that survivors will encounter another level, but the doors generally lead to other identical rooms, each with minor variations in furniture arrangement and decor. A bottle of Almond Water can be found on the bedside table. Weirdly, it is always lukewarm. A common feature is that both the bed and walls are colored a faint, uniform white. The only light comes from a dim lamp on the bedside table. Do not sleep on the bed.

Each room is soundproof; no sound from other rooms can be heard, even if the door is open. You can only hear your own voice. More often than not, you are alone. No survivors have been recorded entering this Level with more than two people. Perhaps that is its design.

But Survivors are not always alone in the room. There is a possibility of encountering a figure half-submerged in the ceiling. Perhaps two. Survivors can only see their backs. You cannot pull them out. Do not try to approach them for the sake of your mental health. Trust this report.

It is highly recommended to seek access to another level immediately. This usually takes a long time. Longer than you think. Some claim to have been trapped for a month. That explains a few things.

Listen, this Level… there's something about this Level that I can't explain. After going through hundreds of similar rooms, encountering the occupants dozens of times, you'll start to wonder about many things. The first thing you might do is try to approach one of the room's occupants, but once again, I emphasize, DO NOT do that. Every step you take will haunt you afterwards.

And in the end, maybe after the thousandth room—I heard someone counting them—you'll be tempted to try sleeping on the bed in that Level. DON'T DO IT.

So, let me give you a story instead.

A pair of survivors were once trapped in this Level. They had actually only gone through a few dozen rooms. Then one of them said, “I'm exhausted! Let's rest on the temporary bed!” And those were his last words before he fell asleep. What happened next happened in the blink of an eye; his partner was now stuck to the ceiling, motionless. As if half-noclip and now trapped up there.

The man obviously panicked. He immediately checked on his partner. Though the bed must not be slept in, it can at least be stood upon. With that and the help of another table, he was able to check on her. She had a pulse, and that gave him hope. He then attempted every conceivable method to free her.

After days of exhaustion, he lay beside the bed and looked at his partner in despair. He had given up. He decided to at least check on his partner one last time. He approached the ceiling and checked her pulse again before leaving. But in the silence of the room, he could hear the faint voice of his partner behind the ceiling.

I refuse to discuss it. For your own well-being, do not seek it out. That man managed to escape from this Level and tell his story. All the survivors who entered this Level after him owe him their lives. Tragically, the man is now missing without a trace. There are secondary accounts claiming a pair of ceiling occupants were found on this Level, one of whom bore a resemblance to him. Obviously, no one can confirm that.

Unfortunately, I was alone. I heard the story from several Survivors, but it turns out that no report had been made about this Level yet. The first thing I did after escaping from that cursed Level was to type this. Maybe whoever reads my writing will correct the formatting later.

I'm not sure if I can be contacted about it. I don't want to think about it again. Even though I've escaped, I can still hear them.

Entrances and Exit

Entrances

You are susceptible to being trapped in this Level if wandering alone or in a pair; thus, always travel with a large cohort. The Level itself can be found anywhere. You may simply clip through a wall only to find yourself in one of its rooms. If you're lucky, you might open a door and realize the room inside is this Level before stepping inside.

Exit

Survivors must persistently attempt to open door after door, room after room. Do not dwell on the time you have spent there. Keep moving forward with that objective. The room is never fully dark; clutch the lamp on the table. The lukewarm Almond Water will always be present on the table. Ignore the room's occupants; pray that they may one day rest peacefully. Keep trying! Crawling is okay! Get out of there!

Do not go gentle into that dark night.
