Level 471, also referred to as Webbed Highways, is an expansive network of roads with no perceptible beginning or end.
Description
The highways in Level 471 are arranged in a multilayered network similar to a spiderweb, with layers upon layers. They expand indefinitely, fading away from sight as they stretch into the distance. A perpetual dense fog engulfs the highways, rendering the sight nearly imperceptible beyond a certain point. The highways themselves exhibit non-Euclidean properties, shifting and looping unpredictably in direct contradiction to conventional spatial logic. Attempts to establish fixed reference points have been deemed unsuccessful, as landmarks appear in inconsistent locations or vanish altogether. Level 471 exhibits the same isolating effect as Level 0, preventing any wanderer from encountering another. Despite the presence of other highways observable within the level, there is no successful way to access them.
Time does not appear to function in a linear manner within Level 471, leading to severe disruptions in wanderers’ perception of time. As a result, individuals report significant memory gaps, while others claim that brief moments feel unnaturally prolonged or stretched to unbearable durations. A commonly encountered phenomenon in Level 471 is the presence of high-speed vehicles, often perceived as rapidly emerging from the fog. Wanderers report the sudden manifestation of blinding headlights in the distance, moving toward them at extreme velocities. However, after seconds of acceleration, the vehicles disappear instantaneously.
Scattered throughout the level are numerous signages, seemingly positioned at random, many of which are in a state of severe corrosion, though despite being in a state of vulnerability, these signages are indestructible. Oddly, these signages do not display messages in the way that typical signage would. Although the texts are almost faded and are nearly incomprehensible, the signages have been observed to display various texts such as:
- Cryptic messages
- Binary code
- Nonsensical phrases
- Messages in an unknown language
The Power Outage
"The Power Outage" is an anomalous event that occurs when a wanderer remains within Level 471 for too long. When it begins, the streetlights abruptly turn off, plunging the highways into an impenetrable darkness similar to the one present in Level 6. Any form of artificial lighting will cease to function entirely. During this event, growling and screeching noises can be heard echoing from the surrounding darkness. These sounds are often described as inhuman and distressingly close, though no definitive source has ever been identified.
It is best that you leave the level once this starts. God knows what might be lurking within the darkness.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
Attempts to establish such settlements have been deemed impossible, as the level is devoid of any necessary supplies and is unsuitable for human settlements.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- Level 471 can be entered if a wanderer attempts to crash the car towards the concrete walls of Level 69, as it results in no-clipping the wanderer here.
- Alternatively, Level 471 can be accessed by entering a room in Level 4 with a sign on the door that resembles a highway.
Exits
- Level 471 can be exited by going through a manhole; this will lead the wanderer to Level 34.
- Attempting to damage the signages will transport the wanderer to Level 9.
- Falling out of the highway will lead the wanderer to Level 78.
