Level 307 - "The Den of the Basilisk"
rating: +15+x

Finally finished this article. I tried to be professional. This took forever, too. Not to say I didn't enjoy writing it, nor do I dislike this discovery at all. Is it horrifically disturbing? Yeah. How the hell does it just destroy people's mental health? Crazy. I know I'm staying far from this place. Hopefully it's helpful for you, though. Enjoy! Or not, that's your choice.

SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:

Class 4

  • {$one}
  • {$two}
  • Extremely Dangerous Entity

Warning: The Incident Reports in this article contain mentions of violence and injury. Read at your own risk.

Level Description:

Level 307 is a corridor of reptile and amphibian exhibits, spamming around 6 kilometers (~4 miles). It is usually very humid and damp in Level 307, and the floors are populated with many puddles of dirty, green-ish water. When a wanderer enters the Level, the door behind them will always end up changing into a different door— that being a locked one, no matter where they entered from, or what kind of door they had entered from. Also adding to the selectively non-Euclidean nature of this Level, after reaching the final room, the door at the end changes once more to the wider doorway with plastic chains hanging from it. There are no communities or bases here. The Level is too small and dangerous for these to be present, as inferred by reports.

Entities

From currently known reports and footage, many different species have been seen in the terrariums present, including but not limited to:

Missing alt text.

A lizard that can be seen in the enclosures here.

  • Various Tree Frogs
  • Various Glass Frogs
  • Various Poison Dart Frogs
  • Fire-bellied Toads
  • American Toads
  • Burrowing Toads
  • Boa Constrictors
  • Various Vipers
  • Garter Snakes
  • Common Musk Turtles
  • Box Turtles
  • Japanese Pond Turtles

These 'animals' present in the Level are entities titled 'Reptilics' and 'Amphibics' respectively. These entities are non-hostile, as inferred from reports and currently classified footage. Also from footage, the glass in this level is either some form of plastic or anomalously tough.1

The final room is much larger than the previous corridor, containing many more exhibits. It also has special, unique exhibits, with tropical birds like parrots, storks, and toucans— though these are often seen to be maimed or even dead.2 Most importantly, there is a trapdoor labeled in an unknown script. Inside this door is what the M.E.G. has titled "The Basilisk."

The Basilisk is a lizard-like entity, most similar to a Komodo Dragon in the Frontrooms, but it does have some notably different features. It is estimated to be around 14 feet in length, inferring from video footage, and looks rotted and dirty. It seems to have matted, greasy hair, in patches on its body, mostly its forehead, and flies are constantly flying around it, also adding to the implication of it being so old, that, despite living, it has begun to rot. From reports, the smell has been described as 'centuries old rotten meat'.3 It is observed in footage to produce either gurgling noises, reminiscent of a hippopotamus, or hissing like a crocodilian. The perfect mix of predators for one monster.4

Due to the lack of data on the Level, it is unknown the patterns of the Basilisk. In the currently known cases, the Basilisk always seems to be on the hunt when any wanderer enters its domain. Also inferred from the limited collected data, the speed of this entity adapts to that of the wanderer(s) entering the Level— just slightly faster. Wanderers always return from this Level traumatized and mentally destroyed. The Basilisk seems to have some ability to destroy the mental state of any wanderer that encounters it. Every surviving wanderer that returned has not recovered from the mental damage. The trauma inflicted seems to be a mix of both shocking imagery— like gore or violence, and it also implants general illnesses, that the victim didn't already have— depression, anxiety, etc. These currently seem irreversible, and lead to potentially lifelong treatment.5

Entrances and Exits:

As previously stated, the only way to exit this Level is to go back the way you entered and return back to the level you entered from.

Entrances:

  • Go through a doorway with plastic chains dangling over it in Level 70 or Level 2 to enter Level 307.
  • Entering the bathroom on the lobby of a building in Level 81 will lead to Level 307.
  • Entering a black door on Level 162 has a chance of taking you to Level 307.

I'm so God damn hungry. Although, Mr. Ram, I must say, I appreciate you guiding some meals to my den.
