Letter from the One Who Waits for You

It seems I made a mistake. I have arrived before you.

I went to the endless city, but it was not an old-growth forest of skyscrapers and asphalt, but a young, sapling forest of brick and dirt. There were no cars, but horseless carriages abandoned on the side of the road. The lamps were fueled by gas. No electric poles in sight.

I did my best to check that this was the endless city by travelling to other places I remembered from what I read, but some did not exist yet. I entered into a sea of blue and saw the scaffolding of countless places, some I recognized, and some I did not, all in the process of being created.

I am here before the city is a city I recognized. I am here before electicity was tamed. I am here before wifi existed. I am here before the Database. I am here before—

You.

You aren't here yet. That's a truth I can't deny. I don't know when you'll get here. I don't know when we'll be reunited. But as I said in my first letter to you, I will find you. It… just might take longer than I thought.

It doesn't matter.

I will conquer death for you. I will become timeless for you. I will wait for you.
