After a few hours of walking and noclipping, Spec manages to find another abandoned building— another motel, this time much more upkept. Perhaps this means they're growing closer to the city— or maybe it's just luck. Either way, the two had practically crashed as soon as they arrived.
Unfortunately, it seems the events of the day still haunted the minds of the two. Sleep wasn't coming easy.
"Screw it. I'm not getting anywhere."
Spec throws his blanket off of himself, climbing out of bed after another unsuccessful attempt at rest.
"It's so fucking boring…"
As he begins to zone out, his eyes fall on his backpack hanging against the wall.
"Actually… I have some cards in there… what the hell."
Spec grabs his backpack off the wall, walking over to the opposing bed and slightly shaking Alexis.
"You still up?" Spec throws out.
"What do you want?" Alexis replies with an audible groan— looking no better than Spec.
Spec sighs, holding up his backpack. "I'm bored as all hell, and sleep is for the blessed. Going off of the past… however long it's been, I'm CLEARLY not that. I've got a pack of Cards Against Humanity in here. It'd kinda be boring with two people though…" His voice trails off. This sounded a lot better in his head.
Alexis responds with a shrug. "Beats doing nothing. Lets go."
"…A little boy that won't shut the fuck up about dinosaurs leads to Adderall."
It's been about an hour into Alexis and Spec's attempt at playing a three-person game with only the two of them. At this point, the two of them are sitting next to each other against the footboard of one of the beds, reading out random card combinations from the deck.
"Shit, I'm all too familiar with that song and dance… diabolical card combination." Spec replies, laughing tiredly as he sticks his hand into the box to grab another set.
"The class field trip was ruined by… DROWNING THE KIDS IN THE BATHTUB?"
Alexis cackles.
"Nah man, that's it. That's the winner."
"Oh please, I can find worse."
Spec rifles around through the box, snagging another pair of cards.
"Oh no! Siri, how do I fix… a loser like you?
Alexis lightly slaps Spec on the arm.
"Really? REALLY? Ok fine, we'll play that game."
Spec smirks, leaning back against the footboard of the bed.
"You'll lose."
"Try me bitch." Alexis replies, snatching the first three cards he gets his hands on.
"My gay best friend + Pretending to be straight = A mistake. Damn, as far as mistakes go, that seems like one worth making."
"Uh huh." Spec replies flatly, standing up as if preparing to leave.
"Oh lighten up, It was just sarcasm— hey, are you all right? You're looking kind of flushed…"
"Yeah? You were just joking, why would—"
"Are you blushing right now?"
"No…"
Alexis gives a thin smile, rolling his eyes as he stands up to see Spec eye to eye.
"We've been stuck in each other's company for almost half a year now. I know you're a terrible liar, so I'm only going to ask this one time: is there something you want to tell me?"
"That you piss me off to no end? That I should have left your ass here and dipped?"
Alexis chuckles, moving a little closer.
"The feeling is mutual."
The two lock eyes once again in a silent conversation, as they had so often done before— eyes narrowing.
"Well?"
Spec rolls his eyes with a smirk, before pushing Alexis backwards onto the bed.
