This is my favorite entry so far. Just everything about it is so perfect. I was genuinely so surprised when it turned out that the reader is the character on the right. Genius. I love this concept, I love this execution, I love this page. Take my upvote, I wish I could give a million.
Thanks a lot for your comment, glad you liked it!
In brightest day, in blackest night, no force of evil shall escape my sight
Just asking. After all, the page itself tends to play with how we perceive it.
In brightest day, in blackest night, no force of evil shall escape my sight
+1 read this in draft absolute fire
thank you sm! i didn't really know what to expect when posting since this page is not something people are used to read
In brightest day, in blackest night, no force of evil shall escape my sight
stared at the abyss and it looked back at me +1
Corrected to a novote after some thinking and discussion. I think the main issue is that the page assumes a certain opinion from the reader, which might actually not be true. It's a bit unfortunate, since it might leave the wrong impression that you're being condescending towards your readership. Still, I appreciate the effort, and I think the core concept remains interesting.
Life isn't endless. We all die at some point. What use is a picture to a corpse? Our memories serve just as well, and when they don't, you don't need to remember. Live life for life itself, not for the memory. Go tell someone you love them. Go give someone a hug. Go play that game that your brother has been asking you to play with him. You might never get another chance.
damn i thought i was philosophical. i used all my brainpower for the next 2 months when i wrote this lol
as the page wasn't originally meant for the contest, it doesn't really stand out. However between the moment i knew i would post it for the con, and the moment it was posted, i took the time to reajust it a bit, to fit the prompts better than it originally did.
it fits with :
Tale
Loss
Author
Endings
And it can even fit with others, depending how you interpret the story
In brightest day, in blackest night, no force of evil shall escape my sight
Overall, I enjoyed it, but I do caution you from getting overly self-indulgent. Sometimes, the meta aspect crosses the line, so you need to toe it.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
