Ghost lights in time for Halloween, big thanks to Liminal Doctor who spent a lot of time working on this with me!
I don’t break promises lol. I decided to check this out and hey, it’s actually kinda interesting. It takes an object from the frontrooms but twist it in a unique way and makes it very eye catching and intriguing in a way that can only be done with the Backrooms. My attention was kept the whole way trough and overall this is good stuff. It just stands out in a way. I like it.
I really appreciate you reading my work! I saw one of these irl and immediately thought "Backrooms"
The main part of the page I felt enjoyable was the "Dream State" section, wherein main interesting points of the object were shown; however, it felt like I was being stalled from being able to read it the entire time. The first person paragraph in the beginning felt unneeded and didn't contribute much, felt like it was a tease to what the actual object was. The audio log section was just an acting out of the anomaly section which was previously shown, everything that happened in it was expected and didn't feel like it had a purpose in the page. The Dream State part was very intriguing, but I feel like there could've been something a bit more added to the page to actually make it a worthwhile read. It is very short, but I feel like the explanation of the hallucinations didn't deserve seven paragraphs to get to. There were some small mistakes in the actual writing that I'd like to go through and edit with your permission as well, though that didn't contribute to what I really thought of the page negatively. There was something in the concept but, to me, it kind of fell short for me. I don't think I'll upvote this one.
The black owl spreads its wings once more.
Unfortunately once it's posted I really can't make sweeping changes, can you show me the edits you want to make on discord?
Yes, +1.
Thank you for reading, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This is a very good article. The concept makes sense and feels Backrooms-like. It's clearly not trying to outdo other articles and just allows you to see the backrooms, maybe not as an evil and awful state but just a weird place. I like seeing stuff like this, especially stuff that is neither bad nor good.
One question I have is why is it suggested that you SHOULDN'T go into dream state, it seems fun and harmless.
I am doing a backrooms D&D game and my players would freak out about this, it'll be great.
Thanks for the excellent article.
I'm so glad you liked it! The dream state leaves you fairly vulnerable, so getting entranced in a dangerous level would probably not be recommended.
Yea that makes sense. I do really like the vibes of the Object, and in a safe level, I absolutely would indulge in the dream state. The only part that needs work on is making it clearer how vulnerable the wanderer actually is. Other than that, it is a really creative object that makes the Backrooms feel more alive. If I could give another upvote, I would. Goodby and good luck on future endeavours.
