Been waiting forever for this to come out.
Same. Thanks for being with me every step of the way. I’m so glad it got the gl.
I liked the concept, tho I found some phrases to be a little weird (probably because I speed-read this since I'm at school right now). I liked that you added Mexican culture in the article. Really good!
+1.
I had a thinky think after Rat downvoted this, but I've decided that I'm holding my ground here.
Yes, the level has some wonky SPaG (which I have gone through to fix — my fault for not proofreading before the post). But I don't feel a downvote is warranted here personally.
It has some fundamentals that many other recent levels are lacking. These include:
- A unique and engaging environment which feels warm, rich, and immersive, because it is written in a very personal way, from GameBoy's cultural perspective
- A theme, image, and formatting which complements this environment and conveys the atmosphere excellently
- Likeable characters with realistic banter (though I concede to Rat that the exposition did feel stilted in some places)
- A sense of direction towards a larger, but personal and character-driven narrative — one which feels down-to-earth and relatable, and seems to understand its place in the context of the wider Backrooms universe. This is unlike the narratives of other recent posts (even good ones) which either divorce themselves from the wider universe, or impose themselves above it with the very tiring "This is The Most Dangerous Entity/Level Ever Now Give Me Your Upvote Or Else" mentality.
In sum, this level has some very unique character — much like some slightly older narratives of Blanche, or Berry, or the Black Knights, or Leo Castellos. They are not perfect, but they hold worth because they tell a good story.
That is why I will continue to leave this at a cheery upvote, and will continue to recommend it as a really good article! Hope to see the story continue soon!
I wrote this before I really tried to learn Spanish. No one corrected me until Viv pointed it out. So introducing Los Panaderos. There we go, I fixed the Espanõl.

doesn't capitalize on its unique format.
