When I saw "The Pool Rooms", I already expected this level to capitalize on the resemblance to its more successful precursor; in part, it reminds me of the SCP titled "Siren Head" (a ship mast in the shape of a mythological siren). However, I was left disappointed when the meat of the level turned out to be fairly generic. It has trouble holding up next to the actual Level 37 on the site, which is unfortunate because the name invites itself to comparison.
The twist itself doesn't work for me, because the audience is already let in on the fact that Adalyn is in The Pool Rooms, while James isn't. The audience already knows that The Pool Rooms is an obvious homage to The Poolrooms, while James doesn't. So the entire time he travels, there's no suspense. Both sides of the photo exchange between the two at the end failed to shock because they're exactly where the reader already knows them to be.
Overall, it comes off as a page that only exists for its title, with the contents being an afterthought.
