Pretty ok, just two points I need to mention
1) I'm not exactly too invested in physics to understand if it is technically possible, but I don't think that electricity can conduct over an infinitely long conductor due to resistance and whatnot, so the whole level dying due to a thunder strike is a bit far fetched.
2) Something about the writing feels a bit off, namely due to how some parts are italicised or made bold (though there are other factors at play that I can't quite put my finger on at the current moment, im writing this at 7:30 in the morning and am somewhat groggy). It makes some parts feel a bit melodramatic, and makes it feel a bit like the paragraphs are just building to a vine boom sfx chills top 15 burger king foot lettuce type 'reveal' that's supposed to dramatise it, which is a good technique don't get me wrong, but it works less in abundance and more at crucial points in storytelling rather than part of the main descriptions.
Other than those two points though, I don't have much negative to say about this. If anything, I'm quite excited to see another take on shortform articles that actually does it well. The note at the end very much put it all together, and the rest of the description is pretty compelling. Despite its flaws I'm pretty content to give it an upvote.
