Let me explain something. First I will go through the NATO standard small arms
5.7x28mm is a military pistol and PDW cartridge (Of FN P90 and Five-seveN)
.22 TCM is a civilian cartridge with a goal and the same bullet diameter. It actually has more kinetic energy in most loadings. (Any weapon chambered in 9x19mm can be rechambered in .22 TCM)
Civilian > Military
9x19mm NATO is a military pistol and SMG cartridge (of Glock 17- 19, H&K MP5, etc. fame)
9x19mm +P (the +P designates an increased pressure loading) is essentially the exact same thing. Most 9x19mm self defense ammo is +P. (although, military ammunition might perform better in the specific case since military rounds are FMJ rounds which penetrate in soft targets whereas most self defense ammo is hollow-point and is only designed to go through normal humans and might fail to function properly against a more durable adversary)
Civilian == military
5.56x45mm NATO is a military intermediate cartridge (of AR-15, M16, M4, and M249 fame)
.223 Remington is the exact same thing but loaded to a marginally lower pressure. (of original AR-15 and many lighter hunting rifles)
Civilian <= military
7.62x51mm NATO is a military full power rifle cartridge (of M14, M60, and M240/FN Mag fame)
.308 Winchester is the exact same thing but loaded to a marginally higher pressure. (commonly used in hunting rifles)
Civilian > military.
12.7x99mm (more commonly known as .50 BMG(Browning Machine Gun)) is a military anti-materiel and HMG cartridge (of M2 Browning Heavy Machine Gun and M82 Barrett fame)
.700 Nitro Express is a civilian cartridge which, whilst not quite as effective against hard targets, can be much more effective against living things.
civilian » military (In this case, but honestly, being hit with either of these is usually a death sentence, in this case, 147's increased durability might make it less survivable against these by allowing them to impart more of their massive kinetic energy)
Oh yeah, also, I forgot to mention, 5.56 NATO (the military one) is one of the more popular rifle cartridges for civilians here in the states.
Civilian vs military means almost nothing, please clarify it. You could just get rid of the word "military" and replace the word "civilian" with "weaker".
