really doesn't.
As the Backrooms Wiki has matured, articles have become more and more complex. This is a good thing in most ways, but there's certainly an allure to minimalism. Being able to convey emotions and tell a story in just a few paragraphs can sometimes take much more skill and refinement than a 10,000 word tale.
This really shows what it is meant for. Some articles are best to be long, stretched out for thousands of words. Others, on the other hand, can be expressed in only a paragraph or even a handful of sentences. The Backrooms Wiki doesn't really cover that type of content, until the contest was officially released.
As for the undeveloped story, it's completely false. Most entries in this are either added tales to already existing/developed stories, stories that are soon to be expanded as actual entries, or entries that don't need complex stories! That's one of the main factors of this contest completely. As said in the first paragraph of the archived rules, it states "Being able to convey emotions and tell a story in just a few paragraphs can sometimes take much more skill and refinement than a 10,000 word tale.". That's its purpose, to tell a story and/or bring emotions.
Think of it less as an undeveloped story and a 'lazy' piece of work, and more as a short yet emotional/well made entry.
