So, I never explicitly say what's going on in this level, but I leave a lot of clues. If you're still confused, here's an explanation:

Basically, what happened was someone in the frontrooms (The Kid) was attacked by some paranormal entity (there might be more about this entity in the future, but I have no plans currently), and it caused him to go into a coma. Somehow his slightly idealized dream world became a backrooms level. In the addendum, what the M.E.G. agent was hearing was the ambient sounds of the hospital that The Kid resides in.

While I do adore the concept, the article is very lacking in detail or further explanation. I believe a rewrite could really make this idea pop for me!
