This is a good article that's from the Dark Ages, and the idea of a chatroom that isolates you by making sure you cannot meet with these online friends, has inscrutable moderators, and has stupid people falling victim to obvious traps (probably trolling tho).
Anyways, this article does not need a rewrite. It's already good. The humor is subtle and elegant, the aesthetic seems to be making fun of Chatrooms around these times like Reddit and other platforms, in a style that feels like a slight satire poking fun at these Chatrooms that still exist today.
I fear how this will be rewritten. It is already good. Many people see that. It isn't a "normal ass computer". It is a social satire that is underappreciated.
Can we please have a vote on whether or not this will be rewritten before it gets rewritten. The article as-is deserves so much more love than we have given it, and I fear that a rewrite will shoot itself in its foot and miss the point ENTIRELY. This is not supposed to be an object that does cool effects, it's social commentary on real-world Chatrooms and hating that is hating how the Backrooms itself was made.
I write this comment not to give criticism as I normally do, but to suggest that this shouldn't be rewritten. As one person, I cannot stop this, but as a collective, we can campaign to keep this excellent article!
Please don't destroy this work of art, it's already good and it doesn't need to be diluted with a rewrite.
