Custodian Policy

What is a custodian?

A custodian is a person that holds all permissions for a few if not all the pages from a specific author. Those permission has been granted by the author themselves, and allow the custodian to basically edit, delete or rewrite any page they have custody upon to their liking. They basically manage everything about said pages (rewrite permissions, edition permissions and deletion permissions), until the original writer chooses to take them back if needed.

Why have a custodian?

If you are going away from the community for some time, or even forever, having a custodian on the wiki can be beneficial. Indeed, this allow people to contact someone easily if they have questions or if they need to for specific reasons (like expanding the lore of your pages, or asking permission for a rewrite). This also allows your work to be in the hand of someone that can be active enough to work on it if needed. On staff behalf, this also helps them when a change on the wiki requires contacting the owner of the page.

How to assign a custodian?

Simply tell the person, as well as staff! This allows both parties to make sure the custody is enforced. You can give custody of your pages to multiple people at once, to staff or even the greenlighter team.

Note that if you are banned from the wiki permanently, staff will ask you to assign an active custodian on the wiki, or to give custody of your pages to the greenlighter team as a whole. This doesn't apply to deleted pages. This doesn't apply for bans without appeal, as the permission will go to the GLMP.

WARNING - A custodian has a page limit. They can either manage 30 pages from different authors, or as many pages from one author. If the threshold is exceeded, the custodian will be able to choose what to keep to come back in the limit.

If the custodian is banned, the permissions will come back to the original owner, or GLMP in the case of when the original writer is banned without chance for appeal.

Can I change custodian?

You can! If you come back to the community, or if you feel like the custodian is abusing their rights, you can contact staff, who will modify the permissions to give them back to you. However, make sure to choose someone trustworthy in the first place!

Remember that you can still request to have some of your pages — or all of them — be on the no-rewrite list, even with a custodian. This means that the aforementioned custodian will still not be allowed to rewrite or give rewrite permissions to your pages. This doesn't apply to collab pages or rewritten pages.

NOTE: If you have been permanently banned without any chance for appeal before the release of this policy, the permissions have been transfered to the GLMP. You cannot take the permissions back for yourself, but you can assign a custodian if you like.

Custodian list

Here lies a list of all authors who gave custody of some of their pages, if not all, to one or more people. Please contact said custodians if you need to. If you are editing this list, please keep it in alphabetical order.

If you are an unlisted custodian, or if you have given a custodian that isn't on this list, feel free to add it yourself, or to contact staff so that they can update the list themselve.

Current Custodians

These are people who currently own the rights to the authors they represent.

Future Custodians

These are individuals who will represent authors if they were to face disciplinary action or not be contactable for any reason.
