Welcome to Characterizacon2025!

We’re starting off the year with a brand-new contest: the Character Contest! This contest focuses entirely on the POIs we currently have on the site! We’ve noticed how little these characters get used in pages1, so we’ve decided to bribe encourage you writers to utilize them a bit more in your stories and show these wonderful characters some love!

How do I participate?

Anyone can participate in this contest! All you need to do is find a team of people to write for a POI. The teams will have at least 3 members and a maximum of 5 members. Each person on the team must make a page and post it for the contest, or else they’ll be disqualified!2 If multiple people work on one page, that page will count towards everyone who worked on it. All pages posted for the contest must be tagged with charcon2025 and have the parent page set to this page!3 There will also be a new password for people to use for the contest that will go live during the posting period. The password will be charcon2025, any and all pages that use this password to post pages that aren’t for the contest will be deleted and the author will face disciplinary action.

In order to participate, you must make a post in the discussion forum of this page below with the following template (requests go in order from most preferred(1) to least preferred(5)). If you make a request after the team-making period but before the posting period, you may still join the contest, but you must join an existing team and the team must agree to let you join. Teams will be assigned by the staff team based on the requested POIs. Note that not everyone will get their first pick, but the staff team will do their best to make it so that everyone ends up with at least their 2nd or 3rd pick. Once the teams have been established, members will work with a staff member to make a block on this page. If there are any issues with the teams, please contact a staff member.

Rules!

- As previously mentioned, this is a team contest. Teams will consist of 3-5 members and must choose one of the POIs on the list below.
- Rewrites ARE allowed in this contest, but only for the respective POI page for the team. No other rewrites can be posted for this contest.
- Collaborative pages are NOT allowed for this contest.4 However, co-written pages ARE allowed.
- Every member of a team must work on and/or post at least one page for the contest, or else the member will be disqualified. Co-written pages will count towards all writers involved in writing the page.
- There is no limit as to how many pages a person may post.
- The winning team will be determined by the average rating of the team’s pages.
- Teams will be finalized when the posting period starts. Before then, any new teams can join and the teams can change as much as needed as long as it is within the prior mentioned rules.
- Teams will be made by the staff team based on the requested POIs.
- Authors/Custodians may request their own POIs, but will not be given priority access to the team for that POI. However, they may pose as a consultant for the team dedicated to their POI to make sure that development during the contest does not contradict their plans or mischaracterize the POI.
- Pages must be posted during the posting period.
- Pages do not require a greenlight or clear for posting, however, please contact a staff member when you post so that we can move the page out of submission.
- No pages can be deleted during the contest. All entries below the threshold once the voting has concluded will be deleted.

Note that any POIs that are deleted before the posting period starts will be removed from the list. However, teams may still form around the POI if they apply to rewrite the page. POIs that have already been selected for teams that are full will be crossed out.

  • January 26th - February 1st (5 days) — Team-making Period: Participants submit their requests and plan their pages while the Staff Team arranges the teams.
  • February 1st - March 1st (4 weeks) — The Writing Period: During this time, no articles may be posted, but you should work on writing and perfecting your articles.
  • March 1st - March 15th (2 weeks) — The Posting Period: During this time, all articles submitted for the contest will be posted. You may still work on writing during this period, however, the contest will not accept any participants that do not already belong to a team.
  • March 15th - March 22nd (1 week) — The Voting Period: During this time, no more articles may be posted. This period exists so that articles that are added later can still rack up points.
  • March 22nd — End of the contest: Winners will be announced. The winners' articles of choice will be featured in the home page on April 1st as the features of the month of March.

All contest dates are based on "Anywhere on Earth", meaning that if the Posting Period is active in any time zone, posting is allowed.
