Foreword
The Warren Jester has, unknowingly, disappeared within our ranks. Although we have initiated countless search parties, infiltration missions, and information gatherings, all known whereabouts of the Warren Jester are unknown. Why they disappeared is unknown, and how so is even more baffling. They were a very important part to our operations, and their knowledge, though twisted, was vital to our operations.
No foul play has been discovered, though it is not out of the possibility. We highly advise that any Maiden who comes into contact with the Warren Jester report their position and try to lead them back to Level 294.
~ Madam Holmes
Lead Objective Coordinator Profile : The Warren Jester
[NAME]: Not given
[Preferred Names]: The Warren Jester
[Mask Type]: Arlecchino Oddity
[Pronouns]: They/Them
[Sector/Sub-Sector]: All sectors
[Last Known Location]: φλεγόμενος αίγλη θέατρο
Description
The Warren Jester would wear an elegant Arlecchino mask along with a long, black trench coat. They had golden items sparsely attached to their coat, being a gold pocket watch, two yellow-gold strings, and a trim on a singular pocket of their trench coat colored gold. They usually carried a set of knives, mostly six at a time, wrapped on the inside of their trench coat which, while not easy access, was their preference of sheathing. The rest of their outfit matched this trench coat, having black slacks and dress shoes, which were always shined.
The Jester does not usually take their mask off, but when seen without it has steel gray hair and eyes matching that same color. They never explicitly stated where they came from, but it's expected with their accent that they originally came from the Americas.
The Jester's mask was a different type of Arlecchino mask, with the look shown in the picture provided with slight changes. The main feature were a set of long rabbit ears on top, which were black like the rest of the mask. There was no facial features other than eye sockets, and the style of the pointed ears were much more elegant than shown. Gold riddled the mask, making swirls and curved designs along the ears and points of the mask. Engraved bells hang from many tips of the mask, although there was no item inside to make them rattle, which presumably the Jester removed for a stealth factor. To date, the Jester's mask has not been replicated or seen as a separate object to their own.
The Jester was known to be very lively and active, usually laughing maniacally for no apparent reason and having other traits known to an Arlecchino mask wearer. However, their mask seemed to be one-of-a-kind. The Jester, at times, was completely silent, or when discussing objectives had a very serious or down-to-earth tone of voice. This is something not seen amongst Arlecchino mask wearers, and the Jester themselves said as such in a discussion they were having with other Maidens. The discussion has been transcribed in a section below.

Content Warning
Any Maidens who are sensitive to subjects such as: torture, injury descriptions, and blood are not advised to read the latter portion of this section, specified after the M.E.G. excerpt below. Thank you for understanding.
The Warren Jester, or just the Jester for short, was a 21-year-old who joined the Masked Maidens during the beginning of its uprising. Their assistance began as many Maidens do; accept orders given by higher ranking people and discover the corruption within the M.E.G.. The Jester began to grow close to many members of the Maidens, and changed from a Volto mask to an Arlecchino mask.
The Jester's prior mask used to be blue with white swirls on it, mixed with a black checkerboard pattern which overlapped some parts of the white. The Jester wore this particular mask for a few months, before venturing on a specific mission to infiltrate the M.E.G.
While behind the walls of Base Alpha, the Jester was unaware of a M.E.G. operative behind them. When the operative tapped them on the shoulder, the Jester turned and was immediately struck in the face with a heavy blunt force object. Instantly they were knocked unconscious, and the M.E.G. locked them in an interrogation chamber. It is thought that this is when the Jester lost their connection with their previous Volto mask, as when they woke four days later a massacre was reported within the M.E.G.'s ranks.
WARNING
As of 16:25:05, Base Alpha is on lockdown. Stay in a secure area and do not leave until the lockdown is lifted. A crazed maniac is currently running through Base Alpha, killing anyone they encounter. They are a known Maiden and disregard any physical pain, killing our operatives no matter the cost. If you hear maniacal laughter near you, hide immediately and do not exit your location.
Operatives will soon deal with the threat. Stay indoors, lock all entrances, and do not let anyone that you do not recognize inside of your home.
~ Overseer C.
After the Jester escaped Base Alpha, they found their signature mask hanging on the wall and put it on. Immediately they connected with a stronger bond to their new mask, wearing it back when returning to the Maidens. It was noted that many bones in the Jester's body were broken in ways that were not from normal combat, such as their feet being smashed with an object like a sledgehammer and their fingers being twisted. They had also lost three units of blood, which is a dangerous amount of fluid to lose while being active. They were covered in blood when returning, specifying that some of it was not their own. They were treated for their wounds and recovered quickly with proper medical attention.
After this mask change, the Jester grew into their recognizable persona known to many Maidens today. This also brought their standing within the Maidens higher, as they became a Lead Objective Coordinator (LCO from here-on out) appointed by Madam Holmes herself after an eight month recovery from the trauma they suffered during their mission into Base Alpha.
When the Jester began their missions, it was soon noticed that they handled things differently than most. They usually threw themselves into the heat of the moment, getting into the danger, and risking their life over the smallest interaction. Though this could definitely have been fatal, it drew their targets into a sense of fear from how crazed the Jester presented themselves. They were able to terminate their targets swiftly after they established fear, and quickly escaped with whatever data they were assigned to grab. Madam Holmes noticed their irregular behavior paired with their high success rates and wanted to see how they could manage directing a team of Maidens.
Their appointment as the LCO proved fruitful for the Maidens, as their "twisted" way of plotting out objectives for Maidens to complete actually saved many lives of infiltrators who sneaked within the walls of the M.E.G. and threw off the hunt for M.E.G. operatives hunting for a specific Maiden. Many praise the Jester for their thought process, especially those saved by their plans, which can be found further below.
As for the Jester's personal life, they have stated only once that they do not wish to talk about their past or where they came from. No Maidens have broken their request out of respect for their privacy.
The Jester's Contributions
-
- _
After the Jester was named the Lead Objective Coordinator, they immediately got to work.
Operation Blazing Spear
Blazing Spear was the Jester's first act when they became the LOC. The operation was meant to create confusion amongst the M.E.G.'s ranks and throw them off of our trail. How the Jester planned to do this, however, was… not well received.
The Jester planned for three Maidens - Sullivan, Kyra, and Janice - to infiltrate M.E.G.'s Base Omega for important entries relevant to the Maidens. As most know from the report, Sullivan was essential in distracting M.E.G. guards and protecting Kyra and Janice. The alarm was activated and M.E.G. was alerted to the Maiden presence, though Kyra made a vital move to save the mission. Thanks to this one action, the data on testing logs for Object 24 by the M.E.G. was collected and, after a trek back through multiple levels, returned to the Maidens safe and sound.
Although many did not appreciate the insanity of infiltrating Base Omega with three people, they soon lowered their criticisms after hearing the Jester's reasoning. "The fewer people we have, the lower chance we have at being detected. And I just knew Sullivan would be good for the job! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Operation Concrete Barrier
Operation Concrete Barrier was created over a two month planning period by the Jester as a response to M.E.G.'s Team "New Horizons" exploration close to Sub-Sector Buskin. As a type of guerrilla warfare, Maidens were to "snatch up" the New Horizons team one by one. As stated by one Maiden, "It was… an odd plan, to be frank. I had no belief in it at all. "Snatch them up?" What are we, ninja's now?"
Although disbelief plagued the air, a group of 10 Arlecchino Mask Maidens waited for New Horizons and began to assault them. As ordered by the Jester, New Horizons was not to be killed; the maximum extent of their injuries were resulted to incapacitating New Horizons. One Maiden distracted New Horizons, as they usually do, and snaked them to a fake settlement created by wanderers who had abandoned it. New Horizons was then assaulted, incapacitated, and returned to the level they came from.
Since Operation Concrete Barrier was initiated, the M.E.G. have focused their sights on other regions to explore, successfully saving the veiled state of Sub-Sector Buskin.
Operation Dice Roll
Dice Roll was, do date, the Jester's riskiest operation. They planned for a large scale assault on Base Gamma to find any possible classified M.E.G. documents. The assault team would consist of twenty Maidens with a variety of masks to attack the base.
The Jester's reasoning for attacking Base Gamma was written at the top of every report given to the twenty Maidens, transcribed below:
"We all know that Base Gamma is consistently attacked, meaning that it's always heavily guarded, though we don't know what's inside that they're (the M.E.G.) defending so vehemently. I want to know what they're hiding. Maybe it's something on how good looking I am!" ~ The Jester"
Maidens who were informed of their positions within the assault were confused, at best. Many did not know why the Jester gave the roles they did. For example, a Sock wearer was assigned as one of three recon persons, and a Kitsune wearer was asked to be one of two medical persons. Suffice to say, many were baffled by what they were asked to do. However, upon their performance, they succeeded and, at times, even exceeded at their roles.
Vital information was gathered from the M.E.G. assault, and is still being processed. The aftermath of Operation Dice Roll was only weeks before the disappearance of the Jester, and information clarification from Dice Roll has slowed down significantly.
Final Communication

This transcription was gathered from an active phone recording that was in the possession of a Maiden who forgot to turn it off after using it prior. If anyone has any leads at all, contact myself or Madam Holmes. ~ Phoebe Chester
Begin Transcription
The Jester can be heard laughing crazily while talking to a few other Maidens.
Maiden #2: Haha, that's hilarious!
The Jester: I know, right?! It was so funny when I saw them fall over and cry!
They both resume laughing, and another Maiden enters the conversation.
Maiden #3: Say, Jester, I gotta question for ya.
The Jester turns to the third Maiden, tilting their head.
The Jester: Of course! Ask away, ask away I say!
Weaver #3: I wanted to know how you're able to just change personalities while wearing your mask. It really confuses me, and sorry if it seems insensitive.
A pause stifles the air while the Jester remains silent. After a few seconds, they respond in a different voice.
The Jester: Well, I'm not really sure about it myself. Think of it as… hmph. Trying to think…
They pace around, taking five-step cycles.
The Jester: It's kinda how you guys have it. When you put your mask on, it's like another side of you, right? I can feel that side too, but I have… more control, I guess? It's hard to explain, but… well, I guess it just doesn't have that much of an effect on me, or maybe I'm stronger than the feeling. I really don't know.
Weaver #3: I… see. That sure is… confusing. Sorry, I'm just baffled. How is that even possible?
The Jester: I couldn't tell ya.
Two minutes and fifty-five seconds of audio have been removed, as it was deemed extraneous.
End Transcription
Note: It was soon after this conversation ended1that the Warren Jester disappeared. All Maidens were thoroughly interrogated, yet all claimed innocence. No foul play is suspected on their parts, and they have been allowed to resume normal operations.
Soon after, Operation Lost Warren commenced.
Operation Lost Warren

Operation Lost Warren
Operation Lost Warren was the code name behind a massive manhunt, which included over 30 Maidens spread across 200+ levels, all in order to find the Warren Jester. As of writing, the Jester has not been found, and both the Maiden count and levels searched has risen to 550 and 60 respectively. More details can be found below.
Search Operations
When Operation Lost Warren was initiated, a search plan was created almost instantly; a team of 3-4 Maidens would search through levels in groups and report back to the Maidens when they either explored the entirety of the level or ran out of resources to complete the journey. Listed below are some levels confirmed to not contain the Warren Jester.
-
- _
- Level 1 - No traces of the Jester. No losses.
- Level 2 - No traces of the Jester. Minimal losses.
- Level 3 - No traces of the Jester. No losses.
- Level 4 - No losses. A group of wanderers stated that they saw someone in an elaborate mask quickly running to a vending machine.
- Level 6.1 - No losses. Lead from Level 4 led nowhere. Dropped.
- Level 11 - No traces of the Jester. No losses. The Eternal Repository questioned our differing behavior. Explanation of the situation was given to the Repository. The Master Administrator is agreeing to help with our efforts. Searches changed after this moment.
Levels 12-100 were searched by the Repository. No results. Minimal losses.
- Level 101 - Though hard to access, Maidens did not find traces of the Jester. No losses.
- Level 111 - No losses. Notes were found talking of a man in a mask with bunny ears. No author was pinpointed, and no location was given on the note. Kept for possible future connections.
- Level 113 - Search party was eradicated. Unknown if traces exist.
- Level 118 - No traces of the Jester. Moderate losses.
- Level 132 - A large manhunt was required to scour this level. The search of every village is separated below.
- Pollisville: When asked, no citizen of Pollisville knew of the Jester. Search ended, no losses.
- Merria: As Pollisville, no citizen of Merria knew of any jester. Some citizens gave Maidens odd looks and seemed fearful. Search ended early, no losses.
- Fosran: A few citizens claimed to see the Warren Jester walking through the town, wearing a thick overcoat. Village heavily searched, no losses.
- Luscio: No citizen of Luscio wished to commune with a Maiden, as there was always a "scholar's event" going on. Unknown why citizens wished to stay silent. Search ended, no losses.
- Lumiria: Many citizens in Lumiria claimed to have seen the Jester, though after thorough, multi-day searches no signs of them have been found. No losses.
- Level 138 - No traces of the Jester. No losses.
- Level 154 - No traces of the Jester. Heavy losses due to environmental dangers.
- Level 158 - No traces of the Jester. No losses.
- Level 163 - No losses. A bell that hung from an Arlecchino mask was found, though after close inspection it was determined that the bell did not hang from the Jester's elaborate mask design.
- Level 174 - No traces of the Jester. Minimal losses.
- Level 186 - Fifty miles of the valley were searched over a ten month period. Possible leads were discovered, yet none were connected to each other. No losses.
- Level 197 - No losses. Marks in the wall of Zone 1 resembled those that the Jester would draw, yet the Jester themself could not be found.
Levels 200-300 were searched by the Repository. Possible leads discovered, all sent to the Maidens.
Other levels searched onwards were deemed extraneous and are compressed. If you wish to review all logs, use the "view all war-jes-search" command on your device's terminal command prompt.
Operation Lost Warren is still underway, and more levels will be added to the full catalogue when they are completely searched. The Maidens thank the Eternal Repository for their assistance in the search for the Warren Jester.
Main Lead
16 months after the beginning of Operation Lost Warren, notes arrived at Level μ in a handwriting similar to that of the Jester's. It is still unconfirmed if this is truly them, and these notes are to be taken with a degree of uncertainty.

Where. Am. I. I've been walking all around for what
feels like days, and all I can see is my body and this
damned notebook! I don't even remember why this
thing is with me.
Never thought I'd say it, but I miss everyone. The sounds
of people rambling in my head are driving me crazy.
More so than I already am. I haven't seen anyone
else in weeks. I haven't had food or water in months.
I think I'm going to die down here.

What even is this place? It goes from being really rough
to completely smooth and even fluffy in some places.
Now I'm just curious as to what's going on. Why am I
here? What caused me to be here? Did something drag
me here? Was I tricked into coming here?
If I stay alone with my thoughts I'm going to go mad
down here.
