Introduction
The staff team is happy to announce Promptcon2024 and Backtober2024! In light of
more people sharing different interpretations and ideas surrounding the Backrooms, and the goal to expand on connecting and expanding lore, we’ve decided to host a writing contest along with the Backtober art event!
Both Promptcon and Backtober follow a list of one-word prompts that people can write pages around! We encourage people to experiment and collaborate with each other during these events, as the prompts for Backtober and Promptcon are the same.
How to participate
In order to post your page for this contest, please use the tag promptcon2024(written pages) or backtober2024(art pages). This will be removed when the contest is over. You must also include the prompts your entry correlates with somewhere in the page. Whether it’s in the infobox, author collapsible, art page description, or the discussion forum, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s there.
During the designated posting period, you will be allowed to coldpost your pages, both written and art. Art pages can be posted anytime during this event, while written pages have a designated writing period, where posting comes after. We still encourage you to get critique and spend time polishing your pages, but it is not required to get your page cleared or greenlit. When you post your page, use the password prompt2024 and set the parent page to this page1. Any pages that use this password for reasons unrelated to the contest will be deleted immediately and the user will face disciplinary action.

Event Rules
- You are more than welcome to participate in both events, but we encourage you to not take on more than you can handle. Life comes before the site about silly rooms.
- You may use art from Backtober entries, but you must have permission from the creator to do so. Of course, this doesn’t apply if you are using your own Backtober art.
- For both events, there is NO limit on how many entries a person can have. You can make any amount of articles or art pieces for the prompts, or combine a bunch of prompts into one entry. The sky’s the limit!
- The entries do NOT have to be spooky/halloween-themed. As long as they relate to the prompts, anything goes!
- The winner of Promptcon will be determined by the average votes of all of the person’s entries. Backtober is not a contest and will not have a declared winner.
- All entries must be posted in the designated posting period. Any entries posted before then will be deleted and the user will face disciplinary action
- You may submit articles or art pieces that were in development prior to the contest announcement
- You may edit your entries after posting for minor fixes, but major changes are NOT allowed.
- All entries will remain on the site until the contest is over, even if they are in the deletion threshold
- You may not delete any entries for Promptcon after they are posted, however, you can delete Backtober entries if you wish
- You may not post rewritten pages for Promptcon
- There’s no limit to how many times a prompt can be used.
- The top 3 winners will each get to pick an article in the December feature cycle. An additional feature may be added if there is a tie. If no such tie exists, the author(s) of the 4th highest ranked article of the contest will get to pick the 4th feature. There will also be a Google Form vote for the art features from the Backtober entries
Teams
While both events are not team events, users are allowed to post co-written pages as per usual, as we will always encourage collaboration. However, collaborative pages are NOT allowed for this contest.2
