The Royal Rations are a prized food item found only in the Backrooms. It's not known to spoil, but given how quickly it gets consumed, it is impossible to know for sure.
Description:
Royal Rations are a white edible gelatin. People who eat them universally agree that it is 'the best thing they'll ever get to eat'. Descriptions of what it tastes like however, greatly vary among subjects; ranging from a mildly sweet and delectable taste, to what was described as 'a feast fit for a god'.
Eating any amount of it will provide the same nourishment as 3 proper meals. In theory, this could be used to solve hunger issues in the Backrooms. In practice this is not the case, as people who have consumed more than a spoonful have always craved more.
Basic chemical tests1 have completely disproved the possibility of an addictive drug hidden in the food samples. Extensive tests of samples proved to be logistically impossible as samples of the food always went missing, presumably consumed by the survivors that obtained it.
Sources:
There is currently no known method of producing it. Royal Rations are usually obtained from people connected with secretive groups.
History:
It was first discovered on Level 23 just a few days after the Level 4 Incident by a group of explorers.
Because the group in question was in dire need of food, they ingested it. The group was able to survive on minuscule slices of the Royal Rations and soon after managed to exit the level, became a dominant group; most likely due to the high morale present within the group.
The group disbanded without even leaving a name, most likely due to their supply of Royal Rations being exhausted. There were 4 other Royal Rations reported to be found on Level 23, but not much is known about them due to the nature of the item.
They were later found again at Level 56 in 297 neatly packaged boxes. Each box is completely featureless, aside from 'Exodus 3:8' written with a marker on one of the boxes. The team was unable to recover any of the said packages after just two days of siege from several small groups.
"So I have come down to deliver them from the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites."
