Level 902 is the 903rd level of the Backrooms.

Description

Level 902 consists of seemingly infinite square tunnels with conveyors always lining the floor. The size of these tunnels vary but are usually no larger than 15 x 15 ft. (4.6 x 4.6 meters) and no smaller than 5 x 5 ft. (1.5 x 1.5 meters). Larger tunnels usually have many conveyors leading to them, while smaller tunnels are less likely to have conveyors leading to them. The walls of the tunnels are made of an unknown brown metal with a similar appearance to copper. These walls are seemingly indestructible. This level has a strong Wi-Fi connection with little risk of outages or fluctuations.

Level 902's ambient temperature is a constant 32° Celsius (90° Fahrenheit). This level is shrouded in complete darkness, so wanderers are advised to bring strong light sources to traverse it. Throughout the level, conveyors intersect into other tunnels at random points. Sometimes they intersect with a fall of varying lengths onto another conveyor, so one should take note if they see an opening on the floor. These falls can vary wildly with some being non-threatening and others being lethal.

Conveyor Belts

The conveyor belts have several strange properties. The belts of the conveyors are made of an unknown rubber-like material that is indestructible.1 The conveyor belts move wanderers, objects, and entities at a fixed speed of 10 mph (16 KPH). All attempts to stop the conveyor belts through outside means have failed. However, any number of conveyors, at random intervals, stop for exactly 1 minute and then immediately reverse their direction at the previously mentioned speed. The droning sound of these conveyors is omnipresent throughout the level, their sound reverberating through the metal tunnels.

Crates

On the conveyors one can commonly find crates that have many properties that have intrigued the M.E.G. and B.N.T.G. The crates are slightly smaller than the smallest tunnels within the level; this size will block smaller tunnels not allowing wanderers to go past the crate. This is a potentially dangerous phenomenon due to certain environmental hazards and the entities of this level. The crates look like standard wooden supply crates found on a variety of levels in the Backrooms, such as those found in Level 1 and Level 3.

The crates seem to be immovable by any outside means; they are exclusively moved by the conveyor belts. They also appear to be indestructible, as any attempt to destroy or alter them has failed.

The crates can be opened from the top and a wide variety of items found throughout the backrooms can be found inside in varying quantities. Examples of items found within include Almond Water, Cashew Water, Lucky O’ Milk, Bottled Lighting, Candy, Fire Salt, Squirt Guns, Babel Balm, Greasy Marshmallows, Reality Fresheners, Royal Rations, Memory Juice, ink bottles with a clear liquid substance within, inactive Mobile Vacuum Cleaners, Scarabacks, Liquid Pain in small vials, copies of the Ultimate Backrooms Cookbook, various weapons, gas masks, fur-lined coats, steel-toed boots, and hooks for carrying. Conversely, these crates can also contain useless or undesirable objects. Some of these include human hair, mundane clocks, live rats, car parts, broken electronics, rotten food, lighters without fluid, a spring-loaded boxing glove that triggers when the crate is opened, and shredded paper.

The M.E.G. and B.N.T.G. have taken a particular interest in these crates for several reasons. Firstly, they contain a number of potentially rare items, but the harvesting of these crates has proven challenging due to the level they reside within. Secondly, these crates bear a resemblance to supply crates found on other levels. Observations about a phenomenon known as the “End of the Line” point to the fact that the crates found here are the crates found on other levels. The M.E.G. and B.N.T.G. think that this could be a way to transport supplies throughout the backrooms, but research into the crates is hard to perform due to the ever-changing nature of the level.

"End of the Line"

One final phenomenon that has been the source of many disappearances has been dubbed the “End of the Line”. This phenomenon is foreshadowed when one has been in a single tunnel with no intersection for a prolonged period of time. After a wanderer gets to the end of one of these tunnels, an opening will appear into a completely dark void. Wanderers who have fallen into this void without any protection have never been seen again. This phenomenon is dangerous when paired with the crates, as one could be trapped in front of a crate that is going towards this void.

The M.E.G. has cataloged a number of things that one should try and not try if one is about to fall into the void. Firstly, do not attempt to no-clip into the walls or conveyor; no-clips into these have done nothing thus far. Second, if one is able, they should get into a crate. This is also not ideal as some who have fallen into the void while in a crate have also gone missing, but often those who do this will end up in a resource-rich level like Level 1. Third, if one is unable to get into a crate, one must no-clip into the crate itself. This is also quite dangerous, as it has been reported that it is possible to end up near a crate on the docks of Level 230, or even worse, near a crate that is being carried by Entity 231. Conversely, one may also end up near a crate in level 1 or a similarly resource-rich level.

Entities

Level 902 has only 2 confirmed entities: Smilers and Deathmoths. Smilers are the biggest threat on this level, as they are relatively common. What makes them especially dangerous is the ever-present conveyors, as they push one towards the Smiler while it remains stationary. Even worse, one could be stuck in front of a crate without any way to retreat from the Smiler. Worse still, in the narrow confines of the tunnels it is possible, though unlikely, that a Smiler will be in front of and behind a wanderer, spelling almost certain doom. It is unknown if the Smilers are using the level’s environment intentionally, or if they reside in this dark level only coincidentally. With the usage of Object 3 being made irrelevant, this level has become significantly more dangerous to explore.

Deathmoths are an uncommon sight in this level, but nests have been found on the ceiling of larger tunnels.

Bases, Outposts, and Communities

Though the M.E.G. and B.N.T.G. are very interested in this level, the ever-changing nature and Smiler concentration mean there are no known bases, outposts, or communities on this level.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

To enter Level 902, one must find a rare opening in a resource rich-level or industrial level that looks like a tunnel from level 902, conveyor and all. Reports of these tunnels have been noted in Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, the boiler room of Level 5, Level 11 (usually within factories), Level 20, Level 141, on the warehouse platforms of Level 162, Level 172, Level 522, upon walking far enough within the pristine factories of Level 563, within the factory of Level 566, and Level 800. A strange property of these entrances is the direction of the conveyor within the entrance. In some entrances, the conveyor is moving in the direction of Level 902, and in some, it is moving in the direction of the level one is leaving. In the latter case, crates from Level 902 are commonly found near the entrance; in the former case, no crates have ever been found near the entrance.

Additionally, a strange and consistent entrance has been found in Level 901 within a factory that was built by the B.N.T.G. An entrance with a conveyor leading into the level appeared in a hallway within the factory. The B.N.T.G. has stated that they had no hand in this entrance, and are surprised that a level entrance would appear in their relatively new factory.

Exits

To exit Level 902, one can noclip into a crate to end up near a crate on the docks of Level 230 or near a crate in a resource-rich level like Level 1 or Level 3. One can also get in a crate and fall off the “End of the Line” likely ending up in a resource-rich level.
