One of the many structures found throughout Level 811. The Lost claim to have built these stone structures, but deny having created the metal constructs alongside them.

Description

A scan of an old document of Lost origin, allegedly depicting one of the many relics found in Level 811. No objects matching this sketch have been discovered to date.

Level 811, also known as "Titanis Sepulcrum" or "Titans' Deathbed," is a recently discovered level for the M.E.G. However, written records of this level dating as far back as to 3189 BC have been found. It's a vast stretch of prairie with various hills, trees, rivers, lakes, flower fields, craters, and mountains spread throughout the level. The atmosphere seems to be chemically identical to Earth's, and temperatures have been observed to range from 15-19ºC. There is a day/night cycle identical to that of planet Earth, as well as a magnetic field, though no explanation has been found for its existence. No animal life has been recorded as of yet, and no abnormal traits about the level's geography, climate, or vegetation have been detected.

Level 811 displays several examples of ruined architecture, ranging from simple-looking stone structures to gravity defying masses of twisted metal. It's theorized that these structures may have been built by non-human entities. Archaeological research should be able to either confirm or deny such theories in the near future.

Most notable, however, is the level's namesake feature. Numerous colossal metallic structures resembling armor and weaponry are spread throughout the level, all possessing strange, circuit-like lines running through them which pulsate with faint light at regular intervals. These relics can be found scattered throughout the prairie, carved into the mountains, partially engulfed by the ground, and sometimes floating high up in the air through unknown means. Some of these artifacts have been documented in greater detail below, as they are key landmarks of the level and have helped wanderers orientate themselves since the time of the Lost, and are featured in their maps. Research into such documents is being performed as to allow for accurate reports of the remaining relics.

Excalibur

The first of these relics to be documented, Excalibur is, like its namesake, a sword carved into the ground. It serves as the level's entry point, main landmark, and a crucial orientation point. Given that it is located in a portion of flat terrain, it can also be used as a sundial. The sword itself shows signs of heavy damage, such as cracks, missing chunks, and rust. Due to the fact that most of the blade is underground, accurately determining the the length of the sword is impossible.

Zehuti

Zehuti is the name attributed to a massive helm-like structure resting on its side atop a small hill about three kilometers (3 km) northeast from Excalibur. The helm is surrounded by various smaller metal pieces ranging from scraps and splinters to larger plates, wires and tubes, although no connection between them and Zehuti has been determined yet. It's thought more parts are hidden below the surface.

Zehuti derived its name from the Egyptian god of wisdom and writing, also known as Thoth, who was often depicted with the head of an ibis, which the helm seems to resemble. Like Excalibur, it's in a state of great disrepair, full of cracks, rust, and moss.

Ancile

Ancile is the name given to a round shield carved into a small mountain, Mount Ancile, located approximately seven kilometers southeast of Excalibur. As is the case with most of these other relics, Ancile is in a state of major disrepair, with missing chunks, massive fissures, and noticeable signs of corrosion.

Ancille derived its name from the sacred shields kept within the temple of Mars, one of the objects that perpetuated the Roman Empire’s sovereignty.

Ikaros

Located in a flower field twelve kilometers west of Excalibur, Ikaros is a vambrace1 linked to a gauntlet emerging from the ground and reaching towards the sky. Its resting position earned this artifact its name, in reference to the Greek myth of Icarus. It is estimated to measure between nine and twelve meters in length. Digging operations have been planned around this relic in order to determine if there is more to Ikaros than a simple arm. Flowers have been found growing on Ikaros's palm.

Atlas

Atlas, like Ikaros, is a vambrace linked to a gauntlet located on a hill seventeen kilometers east of Excalibur. It bears many similarities to Ikaros in design, though it appears more damaged than its counterpart, with burn marks on some of the armor plating as well as noticeable signs of corrosion. Despite all the damage it has suffered, Atlas is holding up a massive boulder, estimated to weigh fifteen tons. This trait earned Atlas its name, in reference to the titan of the same name from Greek myth, who was condemned to hold up the heavens for all eternity.

Gungnir

Gungnir is a large, twenty meter long spear found hovering above a large crater surrounded by a river about twenty-five kilometers north of Excalibur. It is extensively adorned and seems to carry some sort of insignia, dangling off of the pole's end. It's unknown how the spear hovers in place. While the exact origins of the crater under Gungnir are unknown, its shape and the surrounding river indicate that it is an impact crater, rather than one formed through natural erosion. Gungnir was named by the Lost after the legendary spear of Odin, the main deity of the Aesir clan of Norse gods.

Aegis

The largest artifact found to date, Aegis seems to be a heavily damaged torso section of a giant mechanical armor lodged against a mountain, devoid of limbs or a head. It is located thirty kilometers northwest of Excalibur. It appears to have been bashed and pierced several times, revealing the metal frame below the armor plating. Aegis also seems to contain ventilation shafts and some sort of chamber within the chest area, which was the object of further exploration. Large portions of Aegis are covered in vines and moss. The name Aegis is derived from a legendary artifact in Greek mythology, said to be the breastplate of Zeus.

Additional Content

Upon further inspection, a small, cockpit-like area was found within Aegis. M.E.G. Operative Faith Silversong, a member of Team New Horizons, entered the structure through a small hatch which closed immediately after the entry. After the hatch was sealed, mechanical whirring could be heard for a few seconds. Faith claimed that the chamber's interior shifted, seating her in the cockpit, encasing her limbs in metal tubes, and placing a helm-like visor on her head in the process. She additionally claims to have felt a stinging sensation on the back of her neck. After the whirring stopped, the visor's internal screen showed Faith a terminal. Following a lot of exhaustive work, the M.E.G. has managed to extract excerpt sequences of that terminal for display on this page.

Operative Faith Silversong fainted and had to be removed from within Aegis. Given that the entry hatch had been sealed, a complex rescue operation was needed to open a hole large enough to safely extract Faith from the cockpit. Frederick Kaiser provided the M.E.G. with a circular power saw and the artificial bottled lightning to power it, tools that proved essential in this rescue. In the course of this process, large amounts of muscular tissue, bone matrix, and colossal nerves were found below the armor plating. After six hours, Faith was removed from within Aegis, still unconscious and with a very small puncture wound on the back of her neck. She was taken to Base Alpha, where she was given adequate medical treatment. She woke up twelve hours later, suffering from a strong headache, drowsiness, and dizzyness, symptoms often associated with the use of tranquilizers. Blood tests were conducted, and faint traces of an unknown substance were found. The puncture wound lead to no complications or long-term harm. Faith has since returned to work after her full recovery.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

According to the Lost, some of the piping on Level 2 will occasionally contain circuit-like lights that faintly pulsate with light, akin to those seen on the many relics spread throughout Level 811. Following those pipes will lead to a locked door with a ceremonial Macchina dagger carved into it. The dagger cannot be removed from the door. However, pulling the dagger, rather than the doorknob, will open the door, which leads to Level 811.

Additionally, it is said one of the many caves in Level 797 will lead to Level 811.

Exits

While dwelling in the mountain caves of Level 811, wanderers may find rusty humanoid metal sculptures pointing forward. Following them will take you to Dragonskull Summit in Level 817.

Some potholes located near Ikaros have been reported to lead to Level 170, though this is yet to be confirmed.

There also have been reports of people diving into the river surrounding Gungnir and emerging from Level 466's lake.
