Entity 346 2

Dear diary,

The Moon Hare is a friend.

Nobody knows what he is, exactly, but that doesn't matter. What are humans? What are Facelings? Partygoers? Light Guides? Hounds? Ants? Who knows who or what any of us are? We're all unique beings, little points in the universe between the stars and the folds of reality. The Moon Hare is another one of those little points, just like me.

He listens to the moon. "Listens" is the wrong word, since it's not like the moon speaks. But he learns from the moon, and he takes what he learned and tells us about it. Sometimes it's useful information, and sometimes it's just a little tidbit. He knows things nobody could realize on their own, and he gives us that information because he cares about us. Just today, he found out that the "weird bush" in the greenhouse is actually a person. We don't know what kind of person, but they're sleeping and we shouldn't disturb them. I hope they wake up soon, so that we have more friends.

The Moon Hare makes little pounded rice cakes and medicine. Sometimes he makes them in the same batch. He has a mortar and pestle, and he spends all his time pounding or grinding things down in it. Apparently it's fun? I don't really understand being able to sit down for hours at a time doing the same thing over and over again. It helps him when he's paranoid and anxious. That's just part of who he is. He does his best, and he knows that he's being unreasonable, but he can only do so much. It's our responsibility to help him, just like he helps us. Dunk has mittens on her hands because she doesn't want to hurt us, and we don't get angry at her for it. We do the same for the Moon Hare when he's worried and afraid. He loves us, and we love him.

Living here doesn't mean I can never go back out again. I can still go to any Level I want and keep in touch with anybody. The only thing they made me promise is that I'll do my best to help everyone, and that I'm never to tell anyone where we live. Cross my heart, pinky promise, and if I break it I'll die.

They said they'll let me go with the Moon Hare the next time he goes to learn from the moon. He's still nervous around me, but I think we can be good friends very soon. I'd like to make up for the things I've done, things that might have even hurt him. I can never take back what I did before, but I hope what I choose to do now will show him how much this matters to me.
