One of the words commonly used to describe the backrooms is infinite, and while yeah certain levels may be written to be never ending and constantly be shifting and morphing into new places to explore I don't believe the concept as a whole can be infinite. As far as levels go, I believe there are not an infinite amount of them that one can travel to. If this were the case then doing literally anything at all in any level could theoretically send you to some new and random place. I'd like to know if i'm on to something here or if i'm just speaking nonsense.

while the backrooms as an entirety or any levels can't actually be infinite, they are in the sense that they have no seen end (as of yet).

Infinity is an infurating concept to talk about, because it just exists yet doesn't at the same time.
It exists in the mathematical world as you can talk about its properties. However, in the scientific world, it doesn't exist because it would undoubtedly break the laws of reality and what we know. Now, math is entirely imaginable; it only exists in our heads because our brain see funny pattern and remember pattern. However, since science kinda entirely relies on math to actually do stuff with the knowledge they have, this means that there's a bit of conflict with infinity existing yet not at the same time, so both mathematicians and scientists hate infinity.
What GamerM said here, they are infinite in the sense that they have no seen ending. However, you can't really go "This level has no seen ending," as that will imply that the level is infinite. It could be that the Backrooms is ever changing in the way its levels are held, and hell, several articles point to this as some get "destroyed," "changed," or even created.

yeah, infinity is one of those concepts that gets more complicated the more you try to think (and talk) about it.
