Christmas is here
Bringing good cheer
To young and old
Meek and the bold
Well, it's that time of year, everybody! Christmas is approaching soon. Last year, I asked staff if they planned to host a Holiday Exchange, and was essentially told they could not because they were too busy. Then, I was still recovering from stuff going on in my life and wasn't prepared to host such an event. But this year is different.
This year's unofficial edition of the Holiday Exchange will be a bit different from the previous ones, and is hosted by me, PenOrSaber1.
Here's some info before you make any decision on whether you want to participate or not:
What's this?
The Holiday Exchange, essentially, is an event where users are paired with other users based on the gifts they believe they can offer and want to receive. You won't know who will be giving you a gift, but you will know who you will be giving a gift.
Alrighty, then, what can I give?
Anything you believe you have the ability to make and share with others. It doesn't even have to be Backrooms related if you(or the person you've been paired with) does not want it to be.
Okay, Pen, when can I start applying? And when does it end?
Good question! Here's a bit of a schedule I have planned out:
November 9th - Start sending in your applications!
November 25th - End of Application send-ins.
December 9th - All people should be assigned a partner by this point.
December 25th - Ideally, this is the time everyone will swap their gifts. If someone has to back out early and a filler has to take their place, it may be a bit longer before you get your gift. You will be notified by me via pm if this is the case.
Great, how do I apply?
Simply fill out the following template:
Remember, if you sign up, you have to make something for someone else, so only make a post in this thread if you are willing to make something for this event. Since this is supposed to be a surprise, the person fulfilling your request will not be able to contact you, so please be clear with your requests. Also, please don't put "Anything" under any of the request sections—we want to give the authors and artists some guidance for what to make.
Now, if you, for any reason, are unable to complete a gift you agreed to make, don't worry! There is a solution for that. Just PM me, and I'll take care of it. That brings us to something else:
We need some people who are willing to take last-minute gift requests. This means that one is willing to quickly create a gift withing anywhere from a month to three days before the end date of the Exchange. If you are willing to be one of these people, please say so in your post.
What if I don't finish something by the deadline?:
Try to finish your gift by the deadline, but if you have to post a few days or even a few weeks late, that's okay!
What if I need to contact someone about the specifics of their gift?:
It's supposed to be a surprise, so you shouldn't contact the person you're assigned to personally, but if you need some clarification or some more information about the request, you can always have a friend or me to contact the person you're assigned to on your behalf.
Will I need a greenlight to post a written entry?:
Depends on whether you are planning to post an article on-site. If that is the case, and you do not already have GLE, then contact me for critique. Make sure to clarify that the article is for the Holiday Exchange, as, at the moment, I am not accepting critique. I will take time to help you improve your piece.
How do I share my gift?:
You can share your gifts by either contacting them through wikidot or discord, or by responding to their comment on this thread.
I might have said this already, but please make sure to not reply to this post, but to make an entirely new post by pressing "New Post". Do not press "reply".
Just a high schooler who thinks he is good at writing. Likes working on a lot of stuff, ranging from writing for the Backrooms Wiki, to providing critique, and reading. ~ Pen.
