The concept of being locked in a level until you kill your way out, dying over and over again to reach a goal that is almost completely unobtainable is a horrible way to live. +1
More than a videogame, this concept reminds me of a certain anime series I'm such a die1 hard fan for. How could I possibly not love this page.
Absolutely brilliant, Son of man. I actually once pondered about making this concept into a level before too, but I never actually got the mental picture of the page that wouldn't have got it into deletion. It's very hard to execute, so I'm glad someone ended up doing it on my behalf. This is now one of my favourite pages on site.

It's an isekai, but the main character only has one ability. To go back in time ONLY once he dies. The show explores the concept of the mental stress that involves constantly dying and the unbearable pain that the main character has to go through over and over again to protect the dearest, most loved people to him.
The main quirk of this all is that the main character keeps being forced to fight and face people that is hundreds, even thousands of times more powerful than he is, as he doesn't have any other power that isn't to go back in time and prepare for upcoming threats. He also is unable to tell anyone about his power, so you can imagine how miserable of a life he's been trying to pull through (he's the character in my profile pic btw).
To me, it's my favourite anime because it conveys the message that even if one is sometimes cornered into seemingly unsurmountable situations, permanently surrounded by darkness and depression, there can always be a light at the end of the tunnel as long as you don't easily give up and strive to achieve even the impossible. I highly recommend it to you, what I just said is not even 0,1% of the show.
