I like this object, but I wish it would go more into the specifics of its function. Does it only show one area? How big is that area? When you change floors, does it stay in the same area and simply change layers or does it move to show the new area where you are?
Overall, good object. Nice, short read.
Absolutely zero substance to this. About as boring as a map object could have been made, with nothing to interest me and nothing new brought into the formula. There's also a lack of explanation on a lot of things. Hikarinu explained a bit of them but I have several more
* Do the maps reset?
* What are their physical properties?
* Who are the church guys?
* How exactly does this map work. Does the landscape move? Are you always at the centre?
There's a lot more and because of that I'm giving this a downvote. You're going to have to get this thing a team of paramedics if you want it to succeed in any way.
EDIT: The tone of this critique has been brought to my attention by many people to be counterproductive in nature and for that reason I'm rescinding it. Disregard.
There are roads,
a samurai must travel…
This does give good suggestions, but the tone of your critique is very discouraging to the author. Try not to use such harsh tone when it comes to criticism; writing is a passion after all, not something that should be insulted like "You're going to have to get this thing a team of paramedics if you want it to succeed in any way." Very unnecessary.
Constructive, couraging criticism > Harsh criticism with unnecessary metaphors and responses that dispirite the author.
The article is good and I enjoyed reading it, but I wish there was more. While I do think you plan to write more of this new group the section of it working weirdly in different areas I wish I saw more of.
Yep! Stay tuned for the upcoming GOI that I will be making!
Hi, I just wanted to ask a question. Do they detect objects and entities?
Nope, that will be too overpowered for wanderers, which will break the point of the Backrooms being unknown. The map only shows the 2D representation from above and doesn't show the position of the user and entities.
Although the idea of this article from a view is promising, the execution in my opinion could be handled much better. There are a lot of details that are missing which could be used to clarify certain sections here, most of which are related to Saria's and Hikarinu's comments. A major detail that I think should be added on is how the Object handles navigation under circumstances where you are in a space that is non-euclidean (for example hyperbolic geometry) as proper linearity doesn't exist making a few geometries impossible to represent using a 2-dimensional plane. This object makes it seem that every level is Euclidean.
In general, the concept could be expanded upon just to give it a touch. I didn't find any markable issues with grammar which is a plus on the other hand!
