If I had a nickel for every time I wrote a Level 14 for the backrooms wiki, I would have 2 nickels which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Also, if anyone reading the articles is confused, this article is about how deletion of pages from the wiki affects the in-universe characters.

Also also, for any potential editors, the dead links are intentional; please don't fix them.

I feel like the specifics of the first part of this article would very easily be lost to time, so I'm just going to chronicle them here (hell, I don't think many people in the current community have any idea what Greed was)

Level 14 - "The Military Hospital" : An old fandom import. It's basically how the current version represents is except the writing wasn't as polished, or course.

Twin Fingers : Backrooms candy bar; shoutout to Trailmix for making the original meta disappearing twin finger joke

Firesalt Caves : A cave full of firesalt

Penumbras/LCaTD : The Penumbras were a race of humanoid entities who lived in a kingdom called the Kingdom of Alost, and Last Call at Tom's Diner Part 1 was a tale in which a Penumbra dined at Tom's diner, and payed for her food with some coins

The Almondneers/Greed : Greed was a series of tales about how a group of Almond Water collectors called the "Almondneers" accidentally pissed of a powerful being so much that she changed the Almond Lake into a Cashew Lake.

BONUS: The Monorail : The concept of a monorail from Level 9 to Level 11 comes from the "Monoraiiil" tale which is still on the site. However, that tale was created for the old version of the Industrialization Canon which no longer exists.

BONUS2: Dream Journal : The concept of the M.E.G. asking people to keep dream journals comes from The Leviathan which was an Entity 1 that appeared in peoples dreams (that's what Enigmatic Entities used to be called).

BONUS3: "Witness this dick." : These are words which are traditionally said in Staff Chat to signify that someone has permission to delete something. The phrase, "wheat thins" is also commonly used for the same purpose.

Just asking, when the warnder dies, the page crashes and when reloaded, it isn’t there anymore, does that mean the warnder are erased from existence or the level gets deleted to have the remaining people die in there?

I had a dream last night where there were two figures in a void. One with a blue aura and one with an orange aura. They were silent for a while until the blue one finally spoke up:

"The grace period for Level 14 has ended. Can I get a witness for deletion?"

To which the orange figure replied,

"Witness this dick."

Then they laughed as if sharing a joke, and everything went dark.

Only real muhfuckas get this.

I had my doubts at first that such a low level could be executed well in Birch’s usual jigsaw-puzzle narrative style.

But hot damn, this rocks. Executed perfectly imo.

I’ll admit most of the references weren’t clear to me since I’m not an og member, and I wasn’t familiar with the original Level 14. The meta nature was initially lost on me as a result, but even before I got it, I was already captivated. Even putting the meta elements aside, the underlying theme of unpredictability and the terrifyingly poor reliability of our limited human experience & memory really resonated with me.

+1 and added to my favorites list.
