wish writers would use this more:

There are many levels with the classic "there are papers/books/notes but are not in a known language", so using babel balm would reveal more about the place. I think this has great potential.

I don't think the entity experiments were… enough? any of the groups have enough resources to pin down a faceling and apply the balm. If the balm can help with extracting information from entities or befriend them this could have major lore implications…

I think you could decrypt encrypted messages with this… and this is overpowered… You could theoretically print the electronic encrypted messages (in binary, hex or even ascii) and turn them into plain text. This enables packet sniffing for encrypted Wi-Fi

I like this, but it's very rarely used for some reason, which makes its existence a bit weird. For example, many of Blanche's books are written in unknown languages. But if Babel Balm is relatively common (which is the impression I got from this), couldn't someone just apply Babel Balm to the text and then write it in English somewhere else?

Tom: Heh, that’s a fancy way of putting it. I’m a messenger and an errand boy. I've been picking up some of her books and a bunch of Babel Balm for her. You need to get to Blanche, I’m your best bet.
