Reality is subjective
If something like The Backrooms exist, within that Universe, wouldn't it also be part of Reality? Yes, as-of-now, The Backrooms are deemed paranormal, but only because we don't understand how they function, as they seem so alien to us; With some time, we might figure out what makes The Backrooms part of our Reality.
To say that these "Reality Fresheners" make things that are weird go by-bye and therefore make the not-part-of-Reality stuff disappear doesn't make sense, as The Backrooms are a part of that Universe.

I like the idea of Reality Fresheners, but then the story made absolutely no sense later on. I thought they were going to test the items on an entity, but one of them just stabs the other, apparently.
This became boringly disappointing the moment they deviated from the primary objective. Though I like the idea, so it gets a hesitant +1.
