Description:

Entity PL-5 also known as Electric Fireflies are fireflies (Lampyris Noctiluca) that generate electricity at varying rates. There are several varieties of fireflies that differ in appearance and behavior towards wanderers and other creatures.

Biology:

All Electric Fireflies have practically the same body structure as the Frontrooms ones, but instead of normal light-producing organs, they possess electrical charges that sustain the Electric Fireflies' lives with the energy they generate. They are all capable of harnessing their electrical energy, which allows them to attack wanderers or other entities with single lightning bolts. If an entity does not emit light, it means it is not alive.

Female insects lay their eggs near electrical outlets and in damp, dark places. The young hatch after 7–14 days. These entities eat plants, rotten meat, various types of airborne pollen, and electricity, which they can draw from electrical devices. Electric Fireflies live for up to two years, but interference from humans or other entities can shorten their lifespan by as much as three-quarters.

Types of Electric Fireflies can be distinguished based on the color of light they emit, their power output during an attack, their speed, size, and behavior¹. There are individuals such as:

Behavior:

Behavior toward wanderers and other entities depends on the type of insect. It is known that Electric Fireflies understand what explorers and other creatures say to them. The relationship between different species of insects appears to be friendly, and they reproduce even though they belong to different species.

Discovery

Entity PL-5 was discovered on January 10, 1980, on Level PL-15 by the Polish Scientists' Collective Backrooms, near the level's exit. The group came across a yellow type of insect, which they initially thought was a normal firefly. However, after five days, the group discovered the true nature of these beings and classified them as entities.

• When you're around the yellow variant of Electric Fireflies, try to stay positive and optimistic. This can help them develop in a positive direction.
• Feel free to ask Green Electric Fireflies for help, they’ll be happy to assist you.
• Avoid insects that emit a red or purple glow.
• If you come into contact with a hostile Electric Firefly, hide in a dry place.

Don't:

• Attack the Electric Fireflies.
• Displaying negative emotions around the yellow variety of insects — this may adversely affect their development (such as their transformation into a Red or Purple Electric Firefly).
• Approach the Entity PL-5 emitting red or purple light.
• Stay close to electrical devices, water, and metal objects while running away from the hostile Electric Firefly.

Level PL-7 is the seventh level of the Polish Backrooms. It was discovered on November 3rd, 2002.

Description:

Level PL-7 is a supposedly infinite bridge made of wood and steel, that hovers over a deep chasm. It has many branches leading in different directions. This level is completely shrouded in fog, with visibility limited to 10 meters. The temperature in Level PL-7 hovers between 7 and 10°C.

While staying in Level PL-7, you will not feel hunger or thirst. There are no potential sources of food or water here. In Level PL-7, you will feel uneasy. The feeling of déjà vu that accompanies wanderers throughout the Backrooms is stronger here than anywhere else. This is not a coincidence. You have definitely been here before. Just like everyone else.

There is a very high chance that you won't encounter any entities here. Although some wanderers have reported a dark figure watching them from a distance, no real entities have been confirmed in Level PL-7. Here, nothing is real. Even if He exists, it is not real. He cannot harm you. Right?

There is no chance of encountering other wanderers in this level, even though many reports suggest that Level PL-7 is one of the most frequently visited parts of the Backrooms. He wants to see us individually. He invites each one separately.

Colonies and Outposts

On this level, there are no known colonies or outposts. No one stays here for long.

Everyone gets in here by chance. No one remembers how. And even if He does, he won't share it with others. That's too private. It's His problem.

Exits

There is no single, clear exit from Level PL-7. Sometimes you come back right away, sometimes a little later. Sometimes you don't come back at all. Although, jumping into the misty void beyond the bridge seems like a good solution. Or maybe instead of scheming, just open your eyes?

Level PL-4 is the fourth Polish level of the Backrooms. It was discovered on April 13th, 1970.

Level PL-4 is a system of interconnected corridors and rooms made of concrete, varying in size. Most of the floors and walls are covered in identical tiles made of white marble, with a surface area of 20 cm². Most of the objects found on this level, similar to the walls and floors, show signs of damage. The exact causes of this remain unknown. The areas of Level PL-4 share a total surface area of 600,000 km².

The Bathrooms are a complex of several dozen adjacent rooms, covering an area of nearly 1 km². In them, one can find 93 toilets, 188 sinks, and 27 showers booths. Some sinks have running water, but most often it is cold. The same applies to the showers. None of the discovered toilets have a functioning flush, despite the water in the toilet bowl. In the Bathrooms, one can often encounter other wanderers, as they are one of the few landmarks in the area of the level. The Wells are rooms measuring 12 m² that occur in some places in Level PL-4. In the center of these rooms stand circular concrete wells covered with marble tiles, with a diameter of 2 meters. The individual wells vary in depth and the amount of water stored. In each Well room, there is a metal bucket and a rope corresponding to the well's depth. The water here is always clean and suitable for consumption, despite the pervasive dirt. This leads to these types of rooms being often sought out by wanderers. Unfortunately, they cannot be treated as an inexhaustible source of water, as the supply in the Wells is limited.

So far, no entities have been confirmed to exist in Level PL-4. However, from time to time, various travelers report stories to the Committee's employees, speaking of a constant feeling of being watched, movements of shadows noticed out of the corner of the eye, or difficult-to-describe sounds coming from an unknown source.¹ Many also report experiencing debilitating headaches, frequent sensory disorientation, and an overall sense of dislocation, further amplified by irrational fear.

Bases, Outposts and Communities:

11th. Outpost of the Polish Discovery Committee

• It is located in a room 300 meters from the exit to Level PL-3, next to one of the Wells.
• Between 2 to 5 Committee employees are stationed there.
• Its tasks include providing protection to wanderers arriving from Level PL-3 and communication with the 23 th. Outpost.

4th. Outpost of the Polish Discovery Committee

• It is located near the Baths, between two of the Wells.
• Between 10 to 20 Committee employees are stationed there.
• Its main tasks include further exploration of Level PL-4, assisting wanderers, and managing the water supplies remaining in one of the wells.
• It is one of the first outposts of the Committee in the Backrooms.
• Its operation was resumed in 1990, after a nearly 20-year break.²

Entrances

• Upon entering one of the caves on Level PL-2, you will be sent here.
• You can also access this level by no-clipping.

Exits

• If you fall asleep in this level, there is a chance you will wake up at Level PL-7.
• Going through the wooden hatch in the floor of one of the rooms will take you to Level PL-3.
• No-clipping through some of the walls will transport you to Level PL-5.
• Entering one of the booths will take you to the showers on Level PL-9.

Additional Documentation

The recording below was found in the archives of the 4th Outpost after its operation was resumed in April 1990. It is suspected that it was authored by one of the employees of the Polish-Soviet Interdimensional Cooperation Committee, the parent organization of the current Committee. According to official reports, the 4th Outpost was closed in mid-1972 after its team was found dead. After examining the wounds inflicted on the explorers, a single gunshot to the head at close range was determined to be the cause of death for all of them. One more body carring the same injuries, was found several hundred meters from the Outpost at the edge of the Bathrooms.

The report published below was prepared a few months after the resumption of the activities of the 4th. Outpost. The mentioned deficiencies in the documentation regarding the Level PL-4 could not be supplemented due to the almost complete wiping of the PRKWM archives before the conversion of the organization into the contemporary Committee.

Cold Resin found in a bottle

Description:

Cold Resin in its basic form is a substance with a consistency similar to tree resin. Regardless of the environment and circumstances, the object consistently maintains a temperature of -4°C. Cold Resin is stored in fuel canisters, thermoses, and bottles.

Cold Resin can be identified by the water that condensates on the surface of the container due to the temperature difference. However, this depends on the ambient temperature. When it is cold in the level, Cold Resin can only be recognized by its color. Cold Resin is divided into three types:

• Cold Resin.
• Cold Almond Resin.
• Cold Solid Resin.

Properties:

• Cold Resin in its basic form is sticky and gray in color. Drinking Cold Resin in this form in large quantities will result in the drinker's death due to hypothermia. Some organizations use certain methods to transform it into a coolant. The smell of Cold Resin discourages Deathmoths from attacking.

• Cold Almond Resin is similar to its raw counterpart but is safe to consume in large quantities. One property of the object is its ability to heal burns. Pouring the resin on a burn will cause a brief but intense pain that will end with the healing of the burn. Only 1st and 2nd degree burns can be healed. For 3rd and 4th degrees, they are too severe to be healed using the object. The substance itself is formed by adding Cold Resin to boiling Almond Water. The process of mixing both substances takes about 1 hour, during which it takes on a light blue color.

• Cold Solid Resin is formed as a result of raw Cold Resin being left outside of a container. It then takes on a solid state but does not lose its cooling ability. It can then be used as a lifebuoy in hot areas of the Backrooms, as its cooling properties anomalously spread throughout the body upon physical contact.

Examples Uses for Object PL-10

• Treatment of burns.
• Cold Almond Resin is used by the Interdimensional Travel Bureau as an additive to drinks.
• Cold Almond Resin helps in fighting Entity PL-16.
• From the permanent Solid Cold Resin, ammunition can be created that is effective against warm entities.

Discovery

The object was discovered when members of The Collective of Polish Backrooms Scientists were searching the residence of the Harbinger of Wrath in Level PL-65. They found a chest with supplies, which contained Cold Almond Resin in a bottle. The Committee received a few bottles of Almond Cold Resin during one of the exchanges with the Collective at Level PL-17.

Sources of Cold Resin:

The best way to obtain Cold Resin is from Level PL-65, where it can be found in chests in prison storage areas. In Level PL-17, it can be found in shopping carts. It can also appear in random locations throughout the Backrooms. The reason for this is unknown to the Committee, but it is suspected that K.P.N.B. may have information on this matter.

The Post Office is a very important, enigmatic level used by many people to send packages and information across the Polish backrooms. It resembles a small post office building from the 1970s that is reachable from several levels.
It is separated into three sections: the reception room, the waiting room, and the sorting room, which is inaccessible.
The waiting room has a square 20mx20m floor plan. A door leading to Level PL-11 or Level PL-37 is located to the right of the four chairs leaning against the wall to the left of the entrance. There is a reception desk to the left of the chairs, and a sorting room is behind the glass window in front of them.¹

Reception Room

The reception is divided into three small rooms. There is a Faceling behind the counter in each of them, prepared to respond to any inquiries from the wanderers. They are all wearing the same uniforms from the postal service.² An impenetrable glass wall separating the Wanderer and the Faceling has a tiny opening that permits the exchange of small objects.

Sending your packages

You can send the package here to the person of your choice. The Facelings will be happy to take it and teleport the letter or parcel to the sorting office without any further explanation. However, if it contains something that shouldn't be mailed, Faceling will detect it and sound an alarm, which will send the wanderer through the floor to a higher level.

Setting up your mailbox

Faceling will take a box, display case, etc., that you give it and use its device to scan it, saving the information to the email database. Faceling will then give the item back to you and say, "Thank you for registering your Interdimensional Mailbox." You will have your own Object PL-2 from now on.

Sorting room

The only room that is inaccessible is the sorting room, which is separated from the waiting room by impenetrable glass. A conveyor belt is visible outside the window, transporting letters and packages to different machines. There is a card facing the waiting area on the opposite side of the glass. It explains every procedure carried out in the sorting room.

Interdimensional Mailboxes that were not created by wanderers are instead assembled by Facelings at the "Post Office". They attach them to the walls of levels that have or resemble cityskapes.

Objects PL-2 appear diverse, and the only feature that distinguishes them from regular boxes is that they are completely black inside. There are also mysterious whispers coming from them that seem to say the words "send in!" and "open!" These words are always spoken when someone nearby desires to send something or when the recipient has received a message.

To send a letter or parcel to someone, it must be properly addressed. Please carefully sign the shipment with the name and surname or nickname of both the addressee and the recipient. Failing to do both of these will result in the delivery being burned inside the mailbox after insertion. After addressing the message, place it in the mailbox. After a brief period, the parcel will disappear from the box and will reach the "Post Office" in milliseconds.

Some objects are not accepted by Object PL-2. For example, all types of explosives placed in a mailbox will be ejected without damaging the mailbox, and living creatures placed in the mailbox will be teleported approximately 100 meters away from it.

Level PL-3 is the third Polish level of the Backrooms, and was initially discovered on February 16th, 2011.

Description:

Level PL-3 comprises a spruce forest area containing a basketball court enclosed by metal fencing. Access to the court is provided via two opposing metal gates on opposing sides of the playing area. An electric lamp, continuously illuminated despite lacking a discernible power source, is situated near one gate.

Level PL-3 is non-euclidean in nature. It prevents any wanderer from traveling more than two (2) five (5) kilometers from the pitch. Should they attempt to do so, Level PL-3 will somehow reroute the wanderer to the vicinity of the pitch, irrespective of their direction of travel.

Level PL-3 maintains constant darkness, accompanied by temperatures never exceeding the threshold of 15°C. Overhead Level PL-3 appears a sky nearly identical to that of Earth, the primary observable differences being a still moon and minimal cloud cover.

In accordance with the level’s low entity count, the only entities susceptible to potential encounters with wanderers are Vanishers and packs of Deadcrows. Taking into account both species' aversion to light, their presence from within the pitch is rare.

Bases, Outposts and Communities

23rd Outpost of the Polish Committee of Explorers

• The outpost for the group is located 200 meters from the north entrance to the pitch.
• Between four to six personnel hailing from the group are stationed at this outpost.
• Personnel stationed at this outpost are primarily tasked with documenting and observing entities encountered within this level. Furthermore, personnel are to consistently be on the lookout for potential exits.
• The Outpost provides continuous shelter for wanderers seeking refuge within Level PL-3.
• Supply shipments from the 17th outpost are provided to this outpost on a monthly basis.

Entrances and Exits:

Entrances

• Level PL-3 can be accessed via a variety of wooded areas located within Level PL-2.
• Evacuating the courtyard of Level PL-9 will grant a wanderer entry to Level PL-3.

Exits

• If, by chance, a wanderer falls asleep within Level PL-3, it is possible for them to awaken within Level PL-7.
• Wandering with sporadic shifts in direction can lead wanderers to Level PL-18.

Incident Report

On July 22, 2018, personnel from the 23rd Outpost of the Polish Committee of Explorers, during routine patrol, witnessed the materializing of a basketball within the confines of the level’s basketball court. Shortly following this, the ball subsequently bounced repeatedly without any apparent external influence before passing through the hoop. Following this event, the ball was immediately secured and confiscated by P.C.E. personnel.
